Best price for EOS300D and 10D
Discussion
You need a trip to the US or, more accessibly, Andorra (cheap at the moment as it's between seasons).
The prices you quote are available (more or less) in Dollars or Euros respectively. ie you'll pay c. 800Euros/Dollars or 1400Euros/Dollars. And the pound is very strong at the moment.
Both are top cameras. The 10D is absolutely superb.
Don't underestimate the need for good lenses too. I just upgarded a "std" Canon lens with one of their "L" range, and the difference is massive. Sadly, the prices are too...

I havent bought on Ebay before. Will my buying status give me a poor rating with sellers? Do DSLRs come up on there much?
I saw plenty of D70s there - but all new and mostly from Hong Kong. The sellers might say they will pay any VAT but I'm very sceptical, and even if they do there's still import duty. Even if it all works as planned, you'll get a non-UK spec camera that is unlikely to be covered by warranty.
'You pays your money' etc!

I'll be going to Andorra in September.
How will I know Im buyng a legit UK/Euro spec model?
Andorra's in Europe so it ought to be Euro spec. As for proof, I don't know - sometimes electronic goods have an 'E' on the end of the model number, but then again it could be done by serial number. Or it might be a sticker on the box, I dunno.
You could try calling Canon UK to check the warranty position and also ask how to spot the various versions.
