OBD data onto head unit screen

Hi - bit of a project. Trying to find a way of extracting info from the ECU (speed, RPM, temps etc) with the OBD port and presenting it in a graphical format (digital dials etc) onto the head unit screen using the Aux-in video. Want something I can just plug in and hide away rather than boot up ideally i.e. not a pda/tablet to do the conversion

I've done some internet research, and by the looks of it, something called a 'Magden performance computer' is exactly what I'm looking for but unfortunately they stopped making thewm in 2009

Anyone got any ideas? ECU is GM and head unit is Alpine if that helps.

Going to be hard without a head unit running Windows Mobile or some type of Linux.

There is a Garmin satnav that can connect to the OBDII port and display the data onscreen, might be worth a look?

It's all possible, but no one bothers.
If they make something with an AUX OUT only output, they cut down their potential customers by a huge amount.
You can get different bits of kit that will display the info on their own screens though.

Problem will be software.

There is diagnostic software out there, but I doubt you would be able to get it to display the information on the video out.
