In car camera advice (with a twist)

Look for some advice...hope I've posted in the right place!

I'm about to invest in one of these and I'm looking at the usual suspects e.g go-pro etc. In addition, what I'd like to do is replay the footage on my alpine head unit in the car. Now, I think that if I get something like this: http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/camsports-hdmax-motor... I can plug it into the aux-in on the head unit and fiddle about on the camera to achieve this.

However, what I'd really like to do is use this: http://www.alpine-electronics.co.uk/products/produ... to interface with the camera so that I can select the file and playback using the touchscreen on the headunit. The problem I think i'll have here is that I understand all these in-car camera set-ups record files down onto an SD card so I don't think I'll be able to access the files in this fashion (the alpine interface is designed to pull from "single partitioned FAT32 formatted USB mass storage devices only")

Any relevant experiences or thoughts greatly appreciated!

The new Drift HD may enable you to do this. It has a micro hdmi port and their website does say that you can view what you are recording in real time.
