1998 Chim with otter switch in rad. Have fuse / relay box out at the moment so thought that I would find where the otter switch comes in so that I can run a fan override without having to go down to the otter switch.
So on the switch is a black wire that goes to ground and a green and pink wire. In the fuse / relay box there is a green and pink that goes to the fan relays, but from measuring resistance it is not the green and pink on the otter switch.
So does anyone know where the green and pink from the otter switch goes and it is somehow connected via relay or diode to the green and pink on the fan relay.

I'd check your 'measure resistance' again.. typically G/K to otter switch (onto ground) and Pink to fans is all you'll see in the fusebox. Someone may have intercepted the otter switch for a fan over-ride already or even a fan run on after switching off? You may also have various arrangements if you have dual rather than single fan relays (in some the otter ground goes to each relay, others the first relay power out switches on the second relay).

Don't always expect the otter switch ground to be good either rofl

To make it a bit clearer, the pink and green that I refered to is a green wire with a pink stripe, not a plain green wire. The relay output to the fans is just plain pink and much larger in size.
I do have 2 fan relays and the connections to the 2 coils are wired in parallel.

Yes check arround steering wheel binacle that there is no hidden switch. (small togle switch) for over ride. I went to a lot of trouble fitting wire and switch and then discovered a hidden switch which can be only found with a finger poke! near the META tab insert.
Used the same wiring for a fan active LED instead.

When your at it replace teh otter switch to a lower temp one...I have a otter switch bypass switch and since changing the otter switch i have never needed to use the over ride switch.

Daren. Where did you get your lower temp otter from? I have just fitted a new one from Clever Trev, says on at 92 deg C, off at 87 C. The old original had on it 90 and 80. With my LED coming on, the old Otter was over working the fans ie at constant 70mph plus the fans were staying on. I am now hoping that the narrower range 92 87 will switch fans off at 87 instead of 80. The Bible says 92 87 is correct but Steve Heath Page135 uses one that switches on at 74C !!!. I am beginning to think I may need a 4 core radiator?

No there is nothing that I can see and I have had it all apart.
Remeasuring the wire it does contain a diode, max resistance one way very little resistance with the leads swapped, So it is the same wire.

At 70 mph the fans will turn with the air flowing through them, this will generate electricity which is enough to light a LED. So if your LED says the fan is on, it might not that the otter switch is saying that it is to hot.
Unless your LED is across the otter switch.

Yes Pink Floyd it did pass through my mind. Anyway, the new Otter has done the trick. Happy now. Temp gage a steady 85C at speed. 69C in stationary/slow traffic with over ride and LED on. Thanks.
