Alton Park trackday 104 db !!!!!!!!!

It was my first proper trackday today at Alton Park and the sound test (sensor by exhaust) read 104db. There limit is 104, almost 230 odd miles each way for nothing.

Great day out, (once the track dried to slightly moist ) Had an instructor for half an hour or so, and my brain was fried.

Theres driving, then there's driving properly, smoothly etc. Had a big sideways moment than I manfully caught , all I wanted to do was pull over and mop my brow and

say "fk me that was close", the old boy was already talking me through the next bend, hardly flinched!!!

After 4 sessons and then light drizzel I decided my luck was about used and called it a day. (wet track and Armco)

Three of us went, one in a modified Elise and another in a GTR35, keeped him at bay when we went out together, so quite happy with that, the Elise couldn't keep up.

Good value @£150 for a full day inc instruction if you wanted.

Now to do a track more local........any ideas on making my exhaust quieter????

When u say modified Elsie can u be more specific. I have a friend thinking of doing this or buying a modded SC exige or a Noble?

He's taken it up to 220bhp. Looking to super charge next year. Thought it would be close on the twisties, but couldn't live with us. It's got to be the Noble!!!!

I've also found track day noise limits a total and utter nonsense.

I had this at Bruntingthrope a few years ago ( in my last car ). I got taken off the track towards the end of the day but my argument was that as the car had only just passed it's MOT, then, as it was legal to drive it on the public highway, how can there be noise limits on a private track ?

They had race Honda civics testing for today that were much louder than mine, couldn't make sense of their test.

errrrrr, in order for them to operate a business they have noise restraints, has nothing to do with your personnal car its that the council put meters around the track and if the council measure the limits being exceeded the track is liable.

so your car being road legal makes absolutely no bearing unfortunately

I know and understand that. That's my whole point; Someone can drive a car on the road but not on a track because it's deemed to loud - what a total nonsense.

think i get your point.... always amazes me that people buy houses next to a race track that been there 100years and then moan about the noise and actively try to get it shut down.

Exactly !! That's what happened to Bruntingthrope. But in the end the Judge said just that; i.e. they knew they were moving next to a race circuit/air field, so what exactly they the objectors think it would be like ?
