What is the general consensus on this forum as the better choice of the 2... and what do you think are the main differences?

I looked into which aftermarket exhaust to go on my XFR '09. I wanted a simple backbox that improved the noise and appearance.
My decision fell to SPIRES due to their excellent customer service and simplicity of posting the parts to me (arrived 3 days after ordering)and of course, the competitive price.
The appearance is an enhancement of the originals 10mm diameter quad, flush finish slightly wider gap between the twin pipes (stones don't collect in it, as they did on the original).
After 6 months of use, I am delighted with my choice. Every drive is an event and the noise is a very satisfying "supercar" style note.
However, there is a word of warning... at around 2000rpm the exhaust note is much more V12 than V8 and this causes a "fat noise" in the cabin, very similar to the DB9 noise. Although this is fun when you are in the mood, it can be tiring when you aren't and tend to make you drive with a very light foot to avoid it or changing down a gear to keep the revs above 25000rpm.
In summary...my vote would be with SPIRES

Very useful thank you. I drove one with the quicksilver exhaust and the pops and bangs on overrun were amazing. I assume the spires makes a similar sound as you blip the throttle or on downshifts?

yes - pops and bangs on lift off some of the time
good point about the standard exhaust collecting stones - used to annoy me before getting my spires exhaust
not heard a quicksilver one (looks very similar) but very happy with mine
