Post-training food / drink at 1 and later in the morning!
Discussion
I play ice hockey and it takes place at silly o'clock because we're an amateur team and so we're at the bottom of the pile when it comes to ice time, as such the training takes place at unsociable hours such as 11:00-00:30 or even ending at 0300. The time doesn't bother me, however I was hoping for advice on post-training/game food/drink as I'm struggling with that.
When playing rugby years ago we'd usually tuck into a meaty dinner after games/ training to get the protein in, but this isn't really practical with the times I'm finishing with hockey, and also it'd feel a bit heavy with me going to sleep shortly after! So would a protein drink be ok for drinking after training/games? I'm just concerned about the fact I'd be going to sleep so quickly after eating, but also worrying about not eating after training which I doubt will do me any good.
Thanks!
