So, after dithering for months over which mountain bike to go for I've decided (almost) i'd like to go back to the luxury of full suspension.

I tried out a giant trance X4 today and loved it...however I've noticed zesty lapierres in the sales, and I'm a fan of specialized too.

tough choice!...help!

it will be for bombing around the woods, the mendips and occasional longer jaunts.

I have the 2010 Trace and cannot rate it highly enough, really capable trail bike, suspension works very well and does not sap and bounce when on the flat or when climbing. Trying to think of the negative points but am struggling! I guess it has won MTB's full susser award for a few years on the trot for good reason!!!

Can't speak for the Zesty but I've just went for a 2011 Stumpjumper Comp over a Camber. It just seemed like the better bike for general riding.

It helped that they were also doing a good deal on it at £1550 smile

I was looking at Zesty's too, but ended up with the Giant Reign - I got a 2008 Reign 0 secondhand which comes out a bit lighter than the zesty 214 due to higher spec components etc. Their suspension design has a very good rep - seems fairly even in those that thought the Reign was better up hill than those that thought the zesty was.
Only picked it up at the weekend and haven't had a proper ride of it yet, but all the ingredients are there for it to be pretty good at least smile.
