Day Insurance

It's Sunday, and I have been asked move a Gallardo Spyder from the North West down to London next Friday evening.

I've been told that my 3rd party drive any other car insurance is sufficient but I'm certainly not driving a £100k car for a few hours on the basis that I don't bash it.

I don't really want to call him up and ask him to add me to insurance just in case he thinks its too much hassle and says he will make other arrangements. I REALLY want to take this car!

So I thought I'd try and insure myself, for peace of mind. But nobody will quote me!!

I've tried dayinsure and tempcover.

Ideas appreciated.

I would suggest full cover, its a lot of money to lose especially if its not yours, although you may want to drive this car, you would be better off asking the owner about adding you to the insurance, if he makes other arrangements maybe get a trackday in said car? If he doesnt you win!

Seriously though, I've done a track day in a Gallardo and they wouldn't let me put it in 2nd out of the corners even though that was clearly the gear I should have been in! 3rd is rubbish, and I'd have hustled my Z4 round that track quicker!

I really don't want to turn the offer down, and putting the thought of alternative arrangements into his head is not an option.

Nor is driving it 3rd party an option in my mind.

I spoke to my insurers and they said that I can't have two policies on the same car?

Is it weird that the other major worry is that it rains on Friday night? I don't want any roof in sight.

Just nipped to the shop, they didn't have custard but will Bird's brandy sauce do for the occasion?

Cool, still, nobody will insure me.

I wish I could chat to the automated guy on the end of the internet and tell him I'll be driving it much slower than I drive anything else. I'd be more likely to crash the OH's Puma!!!

man up and get it driven. if your covered then fine it's all legal.

Just make sure you are very careful and it won't be your fault if there is an accident - take an onboard camera or something.

I'd have thought,if the guy has asked you to move is car then he will insure you as well.

I know if I wanted someone else to drive my car I'd do the same.

Seems odd that someone would be happy for you to move their £80/100k car but not want to make sure you were 100% covered, accidents happen, even 50:50 would be a bad result if you were only third party, just ask him...or has he suggested you do it third party?

RAC do day insurance - i used it, 40 quid for a new passat 2.0 tdi when i was 28

I think most day-insures have a limit of 50k for the car value.
