Ferrari 355 & 360 Owner in Birmingham area?
Discussion
I'm considering buying either a 355 spider,or a 360 spider in the next 2/3 month's, and was wondering if there is anyone local to Birmingham that wouldn't mind taking me out for a quick spin in one so I can see what they're like? I'll most likely be going down the private route, but would like to know what to expect from the car.
I'm based near Olton, but can travel to meet somewhere if preferred.
Went and saw a 360 at Parkway as they're local but they weren't interested in taking me for a test drive, and had a very poor attitude
Once i've had a ride in one,I'll know if it's worth me putting my R34 GTR up for sale.
Thanks

As you did not intend to buy their car you were Went and saw a 360 at Parkway as they're local but they weren't interested in taking me for a test drive, and had a very poor attitude

a) Not a customer
b) Should not be surprised they did'nt want a test drive merchant.
I had called up ahead to let them know that I was coming, and was even asking questions about the car's service, along with if the ball joints been changed, any issues with the actuaters, cracked manifolds, and the responce for each one was "i don't know".
I even asked if they would take my car in as part exchange, and wanted to see if they could give me figures on finance, with a responce of "computer's are off until monday".
I had called earlier on the day and told them that I was running late, and also that I would like to be taken out in the car, which on the phone was not a problem, but in person "it doesn't have enough petrol to go out".
I did what I could, they were simply not interested,I did not mention anything about me wanting to buy private to them, and was and still am serious about buying one,be private or trade,i'll simply be going for the best deal out there to me.
Don't even know why i tried to explain myself but i've written so leaving it now. My hunt still continues..

Why dont you get your finances in place ie. funding and deposit, then find the car that is right for you.
ring the dealership saying you will buy the car if its right and subject to a test drive.
I'm sure if that was the case they would be more accomodating.
a ferrari is not like any other car - whats not to like???
A 355 or 360 may not be as fast as your Skyline but thats not the point.
Surely you wouldn't go and look at a house if you couldn't afford it or you weren't in a position to buy.
Cars are the same.

Been busy with a new job to come on here much.
I've test driven a 355 spider that had a tubi fitted, and my god what a noise! It was a spider but the the passenger seat wasnt moving forward so the roof was not put down.
Would have put an offer in until I saw the history and saw that it was a Cat D repaired car which was put in an undirect way on the advert, and it also had an engine rebuild which consisted or putting two seperate engines together.
Walked away from that one,did spent £90 on travelling there and back and a whole day but it was worth it to see one as I was very interested in it.
Had provisional finance figures given already, just waiting to fill out the requried forms to get approvel, can then look at cars knowing what the figures will be for sure as i've been given rough estimates so far.
The only down side to me from the car was the power,i'm use to turbo charged car's and my last two car's have been over 420bhp and very good torque from 2.5k onwards, this compared to have near enough nothing in comparision to my R34 GTR...
I'm still going to be looking, but will be putting my R34 for sale soonish while still looking for others cars. As much as I liked the 355 spider, think I want to try a 360 spider and I can see myself going for a 360 over a 355 to be honest..
Not going to view a 430 or test drive one as then I'd want one and no way at all that I can afford one of them for the next few years atleast.

The 355 can feel slow when you're used to blown cars as the 355 revs really high.
Once you get a 355 up to 3rd gear on an open road and pin it - it goes believe me.
even a 118d can feel quicker than a 355 because the way a turbo'd car produces its torque.
My old 348 used to be as quick as e46 m3s and mitsi evos, but i was having much more fun in much more style plus the noise wasn't too bad either.
