Legacy Spec B having a funny

Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone out there can help me. I am away on holiday at the mo and the car has just done something odd.

the satnav said it was doing an auto update (never seen this before in 4 years of owning one) which seemed to go ok although it reset my preferences from miles to KM but fixed that.

About 5 miles later the orange check engine light came on and the green cruise control light was flashing on the dash.

The only thing that seems to be wrong is that the cruise control is now disabled, the car still seems to be driving ok and having no problems starting and everything else works.

Anyone have any idea what might be up as there are no Subaru places round here that I can pop into at the moment and I dont have the owners manual to look for ideas.

No experience of subarus but check the battery earth connection. I have seen odd electrical issues that turned out to be bad earth terminal on the battery.

I'd second battery issues or voltage drop (alternator)

Checked the battery and all seems OK. Someone on legacy forum said disconnect it for an hour, so tried that but that did not work either.

Any other ideas?
