Lexus IS-F 5.0 V8
Discussion
I quite like the idea of one of these, although I certainly don't plan on changing yet. I have always had a habit of thinking about what to buy next, as soon as I've bought whatever I've got!
Anyway, you certainly don't see many and the magazines seemed to really like them and only picked fault with the ride, which can apparently be sorted. Is anyone on here running one and what do you think of it compared to what you were also considering or drove beforehand. Also, are there aftermarket engine upgrades available, as knowing lexus, the mechanicals will be bombproof and would therefore provide a strong base.

A great car :
Will sound awesome on full throttle and far better than an M3
Will soak up the miles if you are just cruising with exceptionally comfy seats
Will return 28 mpg easily if just driving across country
Will oversteer when you want but never go too snappy
A great second hand buy.

I know what you mean about the M3 comparison, I certainly wouldn't expect one to cost more. I like the fact that you don't see as many and the rather different stacked exhausts wouldn't put me off.
It's not the fact that they are stacked, it's that they are fake, and really obviously sopilchardthecat said:

Agreed with all the above points, but I got nowhere near 28mpg in 18 months of ownership. Take 10 off that number and you would be close Will sound awesome on full throttle and far better than an M3

The dealers are a cut above also!

Mine does 28mpg all the time with a small amount of town driving and lots of motorway and a/b roads. Admittedly any town driving drops the number hugely but mine doesn't ever really get used for small drives.
Having just looked at used prices (2008 with 20k miles for £28k) it's looking like a better deal

See, you're warming to the idea!
Well as i said i seriously considered one last year, but they were not good value relative to the alternatives, and i quite fancied a 2-seater anyway. However i am under some pressure to have seats in the back again.
I've been looking at 911s of a certain age, but as ever i can "almost afford the next one up" so like usual i'll end up not getting one again.
Since i do a 60-mile a day round trip commute (all A/B roads) i dismissed the e9x M3 as it's sub 20mpg is too low. I can and do live with 25mpg so i could consider the Lexus as an economic/money-saving choice
