Purchasing Tyres Online & Tyre Fitting
Discussion
I've been looking into 4 new tyres for my E39 M5 and after doing quite a bit of searching, the best supply only price I have found for Conti SC3's is with Camskill.
Problem is that I do not live anywhaere near Camskill so will need to get them fitted locally. I'm trying to work out if I can save money by buying them from Camskill and fitted by A.N.Other??
I know some tyre shops will only fit tyres that they have supplied. How much have people paid for non-supply tyre fitting and balancing?

I think the thing about tyre shops not fitting tyres they haven't supplied is a bit of a myth. Some big chains might not, but the fitter is getting paid anyway so they should see it as pure profit..
Any independent place will be happy to do it, I should imagine. Talk straight to the fitter, not any sort of boss man, and give them cash. I pay £40 fitted and balanced for a set, or if I recall correctly £25 for a pair.
You shouldn't have any problem at all, and if the wheels aren't on the car it'll probably be cheaper too.

I got my mytyres supplied tyres fitted and balanced for £20 for the 4 by a very good fitter. He does all this kind of thing for me.
Sadly I don't want to say who it was on here - this is a very popular forum and I wouldn't want said bloke to get in trouble for doing a "foreigner" with his employers.

Have you tried your local tyre place to see if they will price match the web price? Factor in the £10-15 a corner for fitting, balancing, valve & disposal of old tyres, show them what you have been quoted. Most places would rather make a couple of quid profit on the tyres over just the fitting. It's worked for me.
Event tyres get my vote.
Ive used them them several times and always been impressed.
Get (fitted) quote online, normally around the cheapest.
Their own mobile fitter comes to you (in my case its always been the next day) and fit them. Pay the guy with your card after they are fitted and you are happy.

I just got rid of the 2 off my pug, one of the worst sets ive had on it. Next to no grip in the dry and did absolutly fook all in the wet. The T1R's ive got now are so much better, and now there bedding in a bit with a few miles they seem to be getting even better.

Funnily enough, I'm in exactly the same situation. Looking at tyres from Camskill for my E39 M5. I'm looking at getting Falken ZE912's at £460 for all 4, delivered.
I pay £10 per tyre to have them fitted and balanced.
I just got some 912's for my OH's 206 GTI... Good tyres but I read somewhere that they were made for smaller cars up to 200hp or something.I pay £10 per tyre to have them fitted and balanced.

I read the opposite, that they were for larger cars, and the FK452's were for lighter cars. Either way, I had them fitted to my old E39 535i Sport, and I was very happy. The car handled very nicely, and predictably both in the wet and the dry.
