Evening.

So since turning 18 I've been lusting after a big comfortable large engined wafter so the list was set from E38 728i's to E46 330i's etc. I had looked into every other possible option from facelift Landrover Discovery TD5's to Clio 182's (PHers I'm friends with on Facebook no this more than anyone else hehe)

I found a few big engined BM's advertised and was about to arrange a viewing when I was sent a link to a mint 850R (always had a soft spot for fast estates) and I fell in love, sadly this was sold the previous day.....

So armed with the thoughts of "sensible", "comfortable" and "quiet" I erm .... quickly forgot them when I saw this Volvo 850 T5 advertised for less than a quarter of my budget with a cage in the back thumbup .
A viewing was quickly arranged for the following weekend, my family called me silly for having 3 cars with no more than 2 seats in either of them etc..... but hey what did I care ! I had a cheap insurance quote on it and it's an estate .... PERFECT !

Basicly I viewed the car with fellow PHer Kovac, we arrived and instantly I grinned like an idiot, started it up and just couldn't stop grinning it sounds mental with it's 3" stanless straight through system. After a quick drive where I discovered how fking quick it is and that it lights up in the dry in second I bought on condition that the seller had to get it through the MOT (which he did). So fast forward to today and he kindly delivered it to my fathers house ready for my insurance change over biggrin

Spec :
-Rica 304bhp map
-Induction kit
-3" straight through decat system
-4 point weld in cage
-Boost Gauge
-Gaz adlustable coilovers (shocks have been revalved to suite the weight apparently)
-Front upper strut brace
-17" comets
-V70 rear light clusters

Now for some pictures (fromt the advert) !

So the next things to do are :

Fit a new PCV system (commonly blocked on Volvo's of this mileage)

Fit the Noble bucket seats I have bought for it as the current seats are the standard items and are rather bouncy / don't support you very well.

Drive it !

Thanks for reading
Jacko.

A 2 seater volvo estate, what an idiotic idea... I love it though for some reason!

Wow that's awesome! I was looking at getting an 850 t5 saloon for myslef but never happened for some reason or another! Do love the t5s though! My dad has got an original phase 1 v70r in saffron pearl! Lovely car! smile

Liking the comets on your 850 - really suit it and are lots better than the standard t5 alloys!

Did you say you were 18 too? Lol

Insurance suprisingly isn't too bad on these when I was getting quotes - I'm now 20 years old and got some good quotes - better than my golf gti suprisingly!

Great car mate, well done smile

Thanks for the kind words smile

The cage is because it was a dedicated track car for the previous owner hence why it has no radio etc.

I will be putting a radio back in it though.... even that is abit hardcore for me hehe doubt I'll hear it as the noise is simply biblical when on boost.

Ahhh, a mate sent me a link to this the other week and then suggested I buy it or else he'd forever question my sexuality. I made many feeble excuses that I now regret.

That sir, is excellent!

Cheers, Yep the Green one was yours wasn't it ? That was the other one that sold before I could get a viewing in time, the one in question above was a gunmetal grey one.

Yours was equally as high on my hitlist..... good ones sell rather quickly.

Nice! Have you seen the black one on Retro Rides? Probably the most evil sounding car I've ever heard!! Awesome!!

That does look quite cool, how much is your insurance if you don't mind me asking as I'm getting really high quotes for some reason.

It looks like one of those ideas which aren't supposed to work in real life which are usually cooked up over several pints of beer.
I'm going to have to keep my eyes open in case you ever decide to sell it!
