NIP SCAM !!

Any truth in the rumour

That if you recieve a NIP and send a cheque back for more than the fine.
They will send you a cheque back for the difference but will not process your points until you have cashed your cheque ?

example fine 60 quid
send cheque for 65 quid
they return a cheque back for 5 quid , which you dont cash.

They have recieved the money but as you never cash your 5 quid cheque
the process of adding points to your license doesn't happen

or is this complete bull !!!!!!

This cropped up last year so had a a face to face with our local collection piont.

Yes it was correct, their system would not accept other than the correct amount.

Realising this they changed the system and if it is not the correct amount they say they return the cheque and give you one chance to rectify before "Morning Your Worships".

I tried it 2 1/2 years ago on hampshire they just sent the cheque back and demanded another for the correct amount.
