Pre paid credit cards

I am after one of these for my GF's son who is 15.
This year he is off on a couple of school trips and we will be spending more time away so think it would be a good idea.
Does any one have any experience of these.
Which are the best for fees etc?

O2 i believe, fee free aimed for 13+ year olds.
