Come on - you don't need THAT many.... sure he doesn't want to send them to me instead????
Could do with getting enough miles to upgrade my flight from cattle! (not that there is anything wrong with their service, but being 6'5" the legroom isn't quite comfortable enough for a long flight!)
Come on people - help me discover the world in comfort

You do know that you can only upgrade with Flying Club miles after you've bought a full fare ticket (and if they have any spare 'Reward' seats)?
I've been a FC member for years and have 256,000 miles. I've tried to book a return UC reward seat to Sydney (180,000 miles) for months and can NEVER get the outgoing and return dates I want. I've also been at the airport and offered to pay the difference in my original fare to full fare use miles to upgrade and been told it can;t be done.
I've tried to use FC miles to claim reward flights in Economy to New York and found the taxes and surcharges on the 'free' flight make it almost as expensive as buying an advance purchase discount Economy fare
In other words I am slowly but surely forming the view that Flying Club miles are a massive con.

Well I have had success in using FC miles for upgrades. I used the miles & money side of things to book myself and the Mrs on an Upper Class return to New York for New Years last year.
The original ticket price was £4.4k, however after using 30k FC miles it knocked it down to £2.4k. A worthwhile saving + the Mrs loved UC!!

Had 450k miles in account last year, took daughter to US (JFK) Upper Class and did a solo UC to Nairobi and solo UC to HK (what to do with the last 90k??). To ask for fixed dates is, I suggest, a little naive. I knew roughly when (within a week or 2) I could go and called and sorted the booking on the phone.Agree with the comment about Economy flights though, not worth it at all after taxes and fuel surcharges!

Well done. Reward seats to USA are relatively easy to come by due to the numbers of flights. Getting a solo seat is also relatively easy. Not so easy when their are two of you. Try booking Reward seats for you and your daughter to Tokyo, SYD, or Cape Town on the dates you want and tell me what happens.Agree with the comment about Economy flights though, not worth it at all after taxes and fuel surcharges!
