Finally got our new (to us) sprinter after the old 03 reg was costing to much to maintain after 308000 miles driving

I always thought a small sprinter with one of the bigger engines would make an awesome first car.

Huge space in the back to get all your stuff in and not unreasonably slow.

Be prepared for lots and lots of issues. We've got a fleet full of sprinters and they do nothing but break down.

What type of problems have you had?
As another company at our yard have an 08 reg and have done nothing but oil changes and services on time and have had no issues with there's in the 150000 miles they've had it! And we've had the older version sprinters for years and been very relible for the miles we do, only started having issues at the 250000 miles mark.

In my old job we had a fleet of the new shape Sprinters. The main problems was blowing bulbs. Loads of H7 headlights and plenty of tails too. Strange. All were affected.

I drive a MWB Sprinter on a daily basis. About 1500 miles a week I should say. We have an 08, 09, 60, and a recently acquired 61 plate in the fleet. Non of which we have had any major problems with mechanical wise. Nice and comfy, drive well (nicer than my car) and the older 311cdi (which our 08 plate and 09 plate are) pull really well, show a few chav's in corsa's up biggrin They tend to drift kind of well, not so much as the pre-facelift versions though. Body work is it's Achilles heel. As soon as you mark it, rust set's in almost instantly.

I'm not too impressed with the new engines though, the 313cdi we have on the 60 and 61 plate. Not enough torque or power (95bhp) which makes it dreadfully slow and painful for overtaking (08 plate over takes swiftly in 6th gear no problem!)

I was told that the new 313 engines suffer on short low speed journeys, if it's kept around town for instance. Something to do with it flooding itself with oil?

ETA: Oh and for reference, 08 plate is on 146k miles, 09 is on 115k miles and the 60 is on around 45k miles. Nobody used the 61, thats still on 430miles, it's tracked so it's hated for obvious reasons!

We've got twenty five 10 plates, five 60 plates and five 11 plates. Alot seem to suffer from engine issues. Lots of visits to merc for loss of power (limp mode sort of power loss) Lots of other issues I cant remember from the top of my head.
Our vans run at there max weight limit pretty much all the time, they are used for lots of short journeys and can be sat for a couple of hours with the engine on. These factors probably don't help.
Funny thing is we have a old 05 plate sprinter, its got nearly 300k on the clock but over the last year has been more reliable that the newer models.

We also have the bulb popping issue. Cant believe the price for wing mirror indicator bulbs. Circa £17 each from merc, utter highway robbery!

This I can agree on... not had that happen to our wing mirror bulbs, but it's a constant tail light or break light bulb or marker light.

I think it's around 200kg - 250kg,
We use it for delivering and moving photocopiers around and is much better than the old Luton box vans we used to have with their big heavy box and tail lifts.
