Is this price unreasonable?

Hard times have sadly struck. Bought a house eight weeks ago and we absolutely hate the area, house is back on the market in a fort night. Job is looking rocky. They say it somes in three's what's next I wonder? Sadly it looks certain I'll have to part with the Chim but not a lot is happening with responses. I think the price is a little optimistic to be honest. I would have thought around £17k would be more the right mark. Either way, there are so many chims on the market to choose from you often find that if you do want a quick sale you have to price the car extremely aggresively.

We moved literally 200 yards from our old house. However, I assumed everything there would be the same just in a bigger/better house. Sadly not - we've moved into an area of families and I have nothing against kids but they are everywhere!
£17k! I thought you may say that. I love my Chim, bought it a year ago almost to the day from Adrian Blyth for just under £20k. Plus the investments made of a Mark Adams session, a service and some paintwork I was hoping to get about 18k.

agree with shnozz, slighty over priced. TBH i don't think your MA chip will add any value which is daft considering to get one you need to shell out £800+
just a a guide, i payed just over 18k for my late 98 450 and that was one owner from new with 19k miles. I still feel i payed slighty more for it than i woulda liked but i just couldn't beat the guy down anymore and didn't wanna loose it over a few hundred quid.

Its a toughie really - get will get what you will get I am afraid (to state the bleedin obvious!). Its daft that mine is realistically worth £10k in a market where it should fetch £12K due to the "upgrades" that it has.... but because its got a few stone chips and tatty carpets, people say its worth less.... maybe so, but I still get comments from TVR professionals saying that its "very tight" and "in excellent mechanical condition"..... but it means nothing with fickle buyers...
Try changing the advert a little and put in all the stuff about the MA tune-up etc. People in the know will know how much its worth and its one less thing to have looked at. But in reality I have seen S and later plates going for £18k so its probably at the upper end of the market for that price. Not suggesting its wrong or too much, but it might be difficult to sell when people see newer cars for less - even though they might not be in the best condition.... hang on in there - selling TVR's is always going to be difficult.

I don't agree! If you price them correctly, people in the know will knock your door down. I've sold both of my TVR's for about the same as I bought them for (though I did upgrade them both) and they both sold within days (2hrs for the 1st and a week for the 2nd).
However, I bought both mine privately.
If you buy a car from a dealer and sell it the following day you'll lose 2k at least, IMHO.
Your car looks superb. However, if you would like a quick sale I'm afraid you're going to have to take a bigger hit on the price. I'd also suggest that the colour combo might put some buyers off (did you notice the previous poster picked conservative colours).
Best of luck with the sale, and lets hope you're back to the marque once you've sorted your current problems out.

Perahps just adding "ono" to the end of the price will bring the people in with reasonable offers.
Of course it amy also bring in stupid offers.

One thing to remember is that sometimes cars are priced lower for a reason.
Low price may reflect condition rather than a bargin.
As high price may refelct the quality.
Perhaps you should put "Price reflects condition" in your advert if it really is that good.
I could have bought a Griff the same age as mine for a bit less but I wanted I good one. 4000 miles later and I still feel I made the right choice.

Thanks everyone for your replies. It has helped. I must admit I am very reluctnat to let her go, the phone not ringing has not really bothered me too much. However the realisation that it 'is' going to happen is now settling in. I've even left her in the garage today despite the sun being out as I can't face driving her :-(. It really is almost unmarked externally and the leather has hardly a crease. I'll have to bend a little on the price but not too much hopefully. Thanks again.

10)Didn't want a newly serviced example (Strange I know but my reasoning was were they selling because of something bad spotted during the service)
So what did I end up with?
99T Chim 400 (ex PHer 'Mr Freefall' car), Sage Green, 15000 miles, Private Plate (TVR), immaculate, Half Leather, PAS, 17inch TSW wheels, 3 owners, Armourfend, Levantech acc's
Why did I buy it? Easy! because it was the best I saw by a country mile that was within budget
Costs so far, £411 for a service from Austec and £180 for a Pioneer DEH P77MP head unit (looks fantastic in a Chim)
Would I have phoned to view yours - Yes - because of the condition, though I have to admit I would have had some reservations on the colour combo (my taste, I sure other people love it) and the fact its an R reg would have slighty put me off.

This really IS a beautiful car as good as it appears - and one that I would be chuffed to bits to see on my driveway (sorry no dosh)!
The colour scheme is initially not one I would have thought of, but having seen it it looks fabulous. Now - I would choose it! Seeing is believing...
