Hi
I'm new to PH. I am a designer and was lucky enough to meet the late Chris Nixon and did all the page-layout for his famous book Mon Ami Mate. I knew nothing of these guys but I was fascinated and enthralled to read the book as I laid out the pages. I think I could have done the job faster, but I kept getting distracted! LOL
I got to know Chris very well during the time I worked with him and I was saddened to hear that he has since passed away. He was a great writer and very knowledgeable. And a really lovely bloke - a real gent!
He was kind enough to give me 2 copies of the book and he signed one to me, thanking me personally for my hard work on the project. Times are tough so I'm considering selling the signed copy. It is in absolute mint condition, as I had my other copy to read. It is in a hard box case too, and has gold leaf edging. I'm not sure if all 1st edition ones have the hard box case and edging, it might have been a special small-run. Googling websites hasnt enabled me to confirm this. frown Perhaps someone on this site might be able to confirm/deny?
I dont want to just put this on e-bay or similar, as it might be bought by a dealer, who would just sell on, to make a profit. This book gave me an insight into racing at that time, and is still one of my favourite books, even tho I am a heathen when it comes to knowledge re cars, racing etc. I would really like it to go to a real fan/enthusiast, and not to a dealer. Although I want as much as I can for the book (as I said, times are tight) I would rather sell to a real hawthorn/collins enthusiast for less than I might get from a dealer, in the knowledge that it will be cherished and kept for their personal pleasure, not sold on.
I hope this is of interest to some of you and that I can find it a good home

I don't know this seems like a reasonable request. Perhaps strictly outside the rules of PH but forgivably so IMPO.
