What car might appreciate in value?
Discussion
As long as they're absolutely standard and mint most things that were great in their day. Especially if reasonably low cost to maintain:
205 GTI 1.9
MX5 Mk1
Lotus Elise Mk1
Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera
Porsche 911 (993) C2
Golf GTI Mk1 or Mk2 big bumper 16v
Ferrari 328 GTS
Ferrari 355 GTS
Limited run cars will but are often expensive to buy into.

Alfa Romeo 8c possibly
Not yet. They're losing about £2k a month at the moment, having been originally inflated by speculators' premiums. Which is fine if you bought one for RRP, as you can now sell it for what you bought it for. I guess (hope) they'll go down over the next few years, then creep up again once they hit more of a cult status (rather like the BMW Z8).there are a few modern "clasics" that will be sought after in a few years.......many got crushed with the scrapping scheme.... Check out how many left....might find some worth a punt.. for rarity value as much as cash value...and the cash value will follow... 2cv are silly dosh now as are GS citroen's.... I bet a Visa Gti will be short on numbers, now that would be worth a shot...
I bet many of you can think of some you haven't seen on the road for a while...

Barring a miracle, cars don't appreciate they depreciate.
Sometimes the figures may appear to show "appreciation" - for instance a rise in value from £5,000 to £6,000 - but almost without exception that will not be a real world gain by the time you adjust for inflation, let alone the other costs of ownership.

I just sold my VX220 for £1000 more than I bought it for 18 months ago and it was top dollar then! VX's will go up and up in value!
Of course various hyper cars will go up but lets be honest we don't really care about them do we. Normal'ish cars are more interesting
How about the original Honda Insight, Renault Aventime, Lotus Exige...The sad fact is that when you think about it, there are too few cars that will actually appreciate over time because most new cars are so boring!
