Hi,
First it's nice to be back here after some time away (job interfered!). I am now planning to get my SEAC sorted and back onto the road. We haven't been together for a number of years (probably over 5!) and I have missed the grins and the sounds.

I would value some views. I need to replace all of the tyres, as they are clearly older and with flattish spots. The current ones are a mix of RE71(front) and SO2PP(back). Times have moved on and so have tyres. Are there any views on 'best tyres' for a big wedge? The size would be 225/50(z)r15 all round on 'standard' wedge rims. I plan to generally make noise around country roads/villages in Cornwall with the occasional track day to scare myself.
Thanks for any comments

Cornwall eh!!! heading down there tomorrow, would be nice to see, hear a SEAC flying around.

Toyo Proxes probably the best way to go.

Phil

Great to have you back..

Re the tyres - it's not so much which to have as trying to actually find any tyre of this size.

There is not much around.

Why not try Wanco Ditchfinders, available in all sizes and really cheap biggrin

I would say the Toyo's as well are a good all round tyre, if a little soft. They do wear quite quickly especially on the tracks.

Cheers Alan - good spot I have ordered 2 new fronts. Good price too!

I have N2000's on there at the mo and though they were cheap they have maybe only 70-80% of the grip and also make giveaway squealing noises when pushed - not good when you are chasing down a jamjar and trying to be discreet but fast through roundabouts.

;^)

Now for the rears - on a big wedge I would recommend you get some 16" 9J split rims for the rear so you can get some 245 rubber on there. Then the choices of rubber (while maintaining a similar rolling diameter for the speedo) open up a bit, and you get more rubber on the road which means less breakaway under full welly.

I have a set of Cerbie wheels where I proved the concept and now have the original 15" split rims on the front and 16" on the rear.

No - dunno who made the standard Cerbie wheels but although they look similar to Saturns they are not the same.

The 16" OZ split rims are ex-tuscan racer ones.

Cheers Adam, considering the Cerbie wheel option myself, one my rear OZ rims is bent, all four tyres are ancient and 16's all round give a bit more room for some bigger anchors up front plus Standard Cerb rims don't demand the stupid money of the OZ split rims.

Great - looks like the Toyo Proxes T1R then. I have found some down here in the SW, so will get them sorted next week. That means I can drive the car to get the outriggers checked over and possibly fixed...
Thanks for the input and comments.

Adam and b@man,
I want to keep the car standard (as much as any TVR is... ), so while I agree with your suggestions overall, I am going to stay with the curent split wheels I have. They have just been refurbed with all stainless steel bolts and a respray/varnish. Looking good too

Thanks to all and hope to catch up at BBW12 if not before.
