Local Rag said:
POLICE say the controversial merger of two independent schools is “an important line of inquiry” after a headteacher had bleach thrown in his face in a sickening attack.

Jim Keefe, from Arnold School, suffered the terrifying ordeal on the doorstep of his South Shore home while his family were inside.

And parents of children at the school said they found it difficult to believe it was “a random attack”.

Speculation has mounted the merger of the South Shore school with rival King Edward and Queen Mary’s School (KEQMS) may be connected to the incident.

Det Chief Insp Sue Cawley, leading the investigation for Blackpool Police, said: “We’ve been in touch with governors, heads and deputy heads at the schools to reassure them and speak about any concerns they may have with people’s actions during the merger.

“There have been some strong feelings expressed but nothing at all of this nature. Although we can’t say for certain this has anything to do with the merger it is certainly an important line of inquiry.”

The attacker struck at Mr Keefe’s home close to the school at around 7am Tuesday morning. He was taken to hospital but later released and worked from home yesterday.

Parents at Arnold said they were “shocked” and disgusted” by the attack.

One man, who did not want to be named, said: “I find it hard to believe this is a random attack, how often do you hear about someone having bleach thrown in their face?

I'm probably being racialist, but my gut reaction to the first paragraph was that the perpetrator will be asian; I seem to remember reading something about caustic chemical attacks which said the majority are committed by people of eastern origin.

Why should such people be remotely considered anything other than base-level humanity? The fact that one is able to afford to send one's children to a certain type of school merely means they have the money, not the class.

It's obviously going to be an area of interest, but it would appear there is nothing whatsoever to actually suggest it was a parent.

Could by any number of reasons really. Maybe he likes noncing little boys, maybe he's banging his neighbours wife, maybe he has a massive cocaine habit. Who knows. I just find it hard to believe this issue would outrage someone so much they'd try and blind someone by throwing bleach in their eyes (one has to assume that was the intention).

The risk to reward ratio is just non-existant, I don't get the logic. "Omg, this prestigious school is going to merge with this prestigious school... AAAARGH... I'm so annoyed I'm going to risk a stretch in jail by throwing bleach in the headmasters face".

that's because you are presuming that all people are logical beasts uncontrolled by their emotions. unfortunately some people are a bit nuts, and you find them in all classes and with all sorts of income levels.

You've got no idea what happened. Suggesting that he might be a nonce is staggeringly stupid at this stage.

I like how you ignore the parts where I said it could be any numbers of reasons for this attack and concentrate on one particular example.

But you agree that his attacker obviously had a motive, whatever and however twisted that may be, not necessarily just because two schools are merging?

Who knows if there was a motive, that would be pure speculation.

I don't know.

I don't know the class of the attacker.
I don't know if he abused little boys.
I don't know if he was having an affair.
I don't know if he has a drug problem.

I.
Don't.
Know.
