Confused about new mot...
Discussion
I'm after some clarification please regarding new mot rules on airbags.
I have fitted an aftermarket wheel and bucket seats, this caused the airbag light to show, the bulbs were then removed as were the airbags themselves.
Now technically my car will fail as my car originally came with airbags, but does anyone know the exact checks, how will the mot tester know my car came with airbags?
I'm a little concerned as to put airbags in etc will be costly.
Anyone in a similar situation as me?

It should fail, as an airbag fitted as standard has been removed.
New rules are here: http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/repository/MOT%20Inspec... (page 136).
Sorry to be boring, but have you told your insurance company you've done this? I would be amazed if they didn't have a complete epi.

Fair enough - I wouldn't have thought they'd agree to the removal of safety equipment.
Road legal race cars? THere's plenty of cars out there with "Safety" equipment removed and legally insured. Most specialist insurers have no isseu with removal of seatbelt pre-tensioners and air bags etc.MOT rules are interesting though. Got a couple of mates who race road legal cars who will have real issues with this.

Peugeots with airbag lights on are a common sight

I don't suppose there are any mot testers on here that can tell me straight how it is?
Is it really black and white? So people like myself or others that track their car and were up until now "legal" will be in an awkward situation?!
