Biggest P.Heads event of the year - who's going?
Discussion
As the title says, this weekend sees the biggest social event on the Pistonheads calendar - Black Tie and Pie. A shed loads of drool worthy cars, posh frocks and an unhealthy smattering of alcohol. Basically, a superb weekend all round
In the early years we always used to have a very healthy Yorkshire contingent, with the mandatory galloping convoy down the motorway but, this year as far as I know, there is only myself and the good Mr Mullen making our way, very bravely "down South".
Is anyone else from Yorkshire going? If not, apart from lack funds, I just wondered why there is not more interest in an event that us regulars look forward to with equal excitement to Le Mans - yes, it really is that good!
And we're setting off in about three hours

As someone who lurks more than posts, the thought of paying a lot of money to socialise with strangers doesn't appeal.
An event like pistonfest would be more pallatable - turn up with some other petrolhead type (real world) mates, maybe get a bit of track action, beer, BBQ/Campfire, look at the variety of cars people came in.
Perhaps if I attend more local runs in the spring next year (which I hope to now I'm on the edge of the yorkshire dales) I'd have a different opinion. Just need to get the Westfield more reliable by then... ahem.
I did enjoy occasional local sunday morning drives, runs to charity super car events & cheddar gorge meets when I was in the South West area... but I never went regularly enough to be "mates" with anyone there if you see what I mean.

How about a "Yorkshire" table at the PH meeting at the Bounty? Friday before the race after St Saturnin.
Could you translate that for someone who may be interested but doesn't have a clue what you actually said !?We had a Yorks table this year, so can't see why we can't do the same thing in 2012.

I feel suitably chastised.
Didn't mean it that way, I just knew what he was on about
Hope was a good night Al
Following Gemini's comments I also feel a little out of touch with PH these days hence my nonattendance.
Would be up for a Yorkshire table next year
As a quick aside, I randomly bumped into Podie & RudeGirl in The Light underground car park in Leeds a few weeks back and themselves were mentioning BTaP and that should come along, trust plenty of the old crew were around last night?

It was bloody brilliant. A great relaxed drive down on the Friday stopping off at Meadowhall, then Broadway in the Cotswolds for lunch, then a few beers and a nice dinner at the hotel in the company of about twenty other early doors PHers.
Saturday was superb weather and we had a cracking run out across some great roads, starting off with an immensely fun scamper up the motorway - A Testarossa, F360 Spider, Murcielago Spyder, Diablo, Tamora, AMV8, 996 Turbo and a GT3 are not often seen having a play at speed on the same piece of road
Lunch stop was gorgeous, then back to Tortworth Court for the main event.
Martyn, a lot of the old school were there, Pods and Rude Girl, Chim Girl and Luca Brazzi, the Fishes, Psychobert, Plotloss, even Petrol Ted made a lunch time appearance
There was even a champagne car in the car park which served pork pie!
