Interview with HR....What to expect?
Discussion
I have recently applied for another job and its sounding pretty promising as the interview went really well and i had a phone call to say that they were impressed and i am likely to hear back from them.
There is nothing set in stone that if i was offered the position that i would take the job until i knew the package they were going to offer.
They mentioned in the interview that the HR person couldn't attend and if successful i would have to have another interview with HR but what should i expect them to quiz me on etc?
Everytime i have had interviews that included a HR person they pretty much just sat & took notes not asked any questions as such.
The role is within the oil, gas & chemical industry if that helps.
Thanks in advance.....

I would guess that the HR person will want to see ID (passport, etc) and ask you to sign forms allowing them to carry out any background checks they require.
They may also go through the package on offer and what you could achieve going forward giving you the opportunity to ask about career development etc.
They are unlikely to ask any technical questions in my experience and are probably looking to see what your personality and general demeanour are like and how you may fit into the team you could be working with.
Best of luck

HR will typically cover an overview of your CV, maybe wanting clarification of things e.g. employment gaps, education (if you're young/graduated within last 3 years). More often than not they will fire some situational questions at you "tell me about a time/situation when..." to explore how you deal with events & people. In general nothing to really worry about - just be honest, open and your professional self. Sometimes (especially if a US company/parent or in some sectors) you'll get some kind of psychometric test. Technical tests tend to come from the department/manager you'll be working under - but if you passed muster at your 1st (tech) interview then HR may be asked to just to administer the tests for the 2nd interview.
