Wheel size problem! help!

I started building a single speed bike early last year and bought a rear wheel from Ebay.

I've deceided to resume the build after delays due to house move, work and extensions etc...

I couldn't remember what size the wheel was but presumed it was 700c. I've had it measured at a local bike shop and after some head scratching he comfirmed it was a 700c.

So ordered some nice road tyres from CR, they duly arrived next day (excellent service as usual) but the rear doesn't fit. Its miles too small!

I'm using an old 700c front wheel and the tyre for this fits ok.

So what on earth is the size of the rear wheel?

Whats the next size up from 700c?

Tried to find the sellers details but Ebay is blocked at work and home PC is buggered atm.

700C has a bead diameter 622mm. Next size up is ETRO 630 then 635.

Do you man the wheel doesn't fit into the drop outs?

So probably moer accurate to measure the bead seat circumference using a piece of string and tape measure.
