Hi,

I want a No. plate making up BUT I want the older style fonts where the 5 looked more like an S than the current font does.

I also don't want the makers details on it and I want the perspex cover over the top NOT the modern printed vinyl type (again so it looks like the original older plates) I'm not bothered that technically it's not legal for road use.

Anyone know where I can get it done ?

Note I DON'T want some weird custom font and I've looked online etc and no one seems to offer the standard older style fonts.

Thanks

I hate pedants but surely if you don't want the standard currently used font then you do want a custom font?

I think you'd probably just need to look at all the places online until you find one closest to the font you want. They do all sorts so there must be somethign similar.

Much of what you say you don't want on the plate is there by legal requirement so many local firms won't do them without.

You will have to look for one of the companies that make what they refer to as 'show plates'. They do most things on the proviso that the number plates are not for use on the road and that if you DID use them on the road it is entirely your responsibility.
They will also do standard road legal plates with all the legal bits without you needing to produce any of the identification etc - and often cheaper (even incl p&p) than buying them from somewhere where you need to show it. Again, they refer to them as 'show plates'. So much for trying to make life difficult for ringersrolleyes
Enter 'show plates' into Google or similar. Loads of companies come up, you'll just have to trawl through them until you find what you want.

I've looked on loads of sites.

I just want an old style plate and none list them.

It seems the fonts changed in 2001 and I just want the earlier type.

Try contacting these:

If they can't they might be able to point you in the right direction.

There is a company that advertises in one of the classic car magazines for old style plates/fonts.

I'll have a look over the weekend and post my findings.

dealerplates.co.uk

This guy does the pre-2001 font. Specialises in the dealer logos on plates, but I'm sure he'd do a set without. I've seen his work, it's good.
