A friend of mine's 19 year old son recently very seriously injured himself testing a racing car for Dundee University, he has been in intensive care for a week and has had to have brain surgery to save his life.

He is out of intensive care now but still very poorly and no-one yet knows what damage might have been done.

She, my friend, is not local to the hospital in Edinburgh and needs to find some accommodation because the hospital only caters for relatives of patients in intensive care. She lives 300 miles away and needs to be near her son.

She is a gardener and does not have a great deal of money so I am asking if anyone has anything, a hotel room, an apartment, a mobile home, that she could rent for a bargain price.

Thanks for reading this.

Sorry I can't help (although I am in Edinburgh).

It might be worthwhile posting this thread in the Scotland section, you might stay on the front page longer and get more local viewers.

Good luck.

Cheers, if this drops too far I will. I don't want to lose this because of double posting though

Try East Lothian - there is Seton Caravan Park (about 10 miles from hospital),they may do reduced winter rates and bus to ERI Mon- Sat,various times.

Plenty B+B's about too (Haddington etc)

I'm local so could help with lifts etc if needed. Hope you get someting sorted.

Cheers
Nick

Cheers Nick. That holiday park appears to be shut though.

We have a property in Morningside in Edinburgh. Not sure if we've got tennants in or not at the moment, but if not, I'll let you know.

Oh, not so good!

Mate has a couple of flats in Edinburgh too, I'll ask what the state of play is.

Read about this in the news; sincerely hopes he makes a full recovery.

I assume she is looking for somewhere immediately?

Check out hostels, as well as the student accommodation at Heriot-Watt, Edinburgh and Napier Universities.

I've also posted a message in the Heriot-Watt Motorsports societies and will spread the word as much as possible: https://www.facebook.com/groups/169794064670/

No problem.

I have a feeling there is someone in there so please don't rely on this.

Pretty sure you'll find an Edinburgh PH'er with a spare room. I'm 200 miles from Edinburgh, but if your friend needs somewhere for a brew/rest from travelling near J23 of the M6 then let me know.

Fingers crossed the young lad makes a full recovery.

If it's the infirmary, it takes me about 40 minutes to drive there on a good day, it's not exactly ideal. The missus is quite unwell at the minute too, I don't think I'm in a position to help, wish it was different.

Hope he gets well soon, best wishes to the lad and his family.

Sorry, I'm in Bristol- but I'll see if we can help keep this "bumped" and very prominent.
