Has my car been earmarked?

Thought i'd share a story/see if anyone has any input on it.

I've been off work today as i'm not well but usually the place is empty during the day and something a bit stranged happened.

I should add that i only moved in 2 weeks ago so i'm still a little unfamiliar with the area. My track car is parked out the front of the place on the drive.

Ealier today there was alot of knocking at the front door, i walked from the office to the front door and opened it to see a guy walking away. Around turns your average looking, split parting, ginger who starts asking if i own the property, i explain i'm a tennant. He then asks if there are fern tree's in the garden, trying to think if there is or not i tell him 'no'.

He says someones asked him to cut down some fern tree's around here, odd i thought, then clocked the tree-surgery polo shirt he was wearing.

after this he just makes some excuses and walks off, a bit bemused i shut the door and walked to the back of the house to look in the garden. We have 1 fern tree, but more interestingly, no one else within sight has any so my suspisons been rised somewhat.

My immediate thought was then he's looking to see if anyone is in as he was going to steal the car.

I've moved the car to a friends house for now incase they come back but i wondered what others views may be? both my mother and said friend thing he was almost certainly after the car.

You should have asked if he wears high heels, suspenders and a bra.

Not unheard of, but I guess he thinks the house is usually occupied now, so probably won't return. I've seen the result of someone leaving a RS2000 on the drive, unfortunatly.

Of course, if he reads this thread, he now knows that you're usually out!

unfortunately not.

My parents live not too far from here so i do know there is a big traveller community near by and they have had issues in the past with things being stolen.

I think you're being paranoid.

If you're a tennant, it isn't your house. Maybe the landlord has requested chopping of said fern ?

Doubt he was after the car, more likely he is an alien spy scouting out possible abduction candidates and to determine whether your spleen is worth harvesting.

The landlords been great so far, i'd be suprised if he had requested it as its only small and its next to an xmas tree he told me he & his daughter planted 8 years ago. he has requested my permission for everything else any time he has wanted to visit.

What kind of car is it? If it were a Cosworth or something I'd be concerned, if its a knackered old MR2 with no interior then I doubt he will be back!

Paranoia at its best tbh. If he had a fking tree surgeon companies polo shirt on either theres a dead body somewhere missing its polo shirt or he genuinely had the wrong house, he could of even been in the wrong street its not hard in some places where they're not clearly signposted.

I work from home and live in a quiet village and we get these people around all the time - maybe they camp nearby or something?

Most often it's tree cutting, but sometimes it's scrap metal, sometimes they want to replace the facias, sometimes re-lay the drive - all sorts of stuff.
