Private Plate transfer advise, please.

Hi, a little help required.

I have my private plate on a retention certificate (in my name). My brother wants it on his van as I am not using the plate right now.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Yep, easy, sign it bottom left, fill his name in as a nominee, pack him off to his local DVLA office with his MOT and tax disc (or photocopy), and they`ll do it while you wait.
Done it twice in the last month

You do not need the tax disc. Do not send it off as you will be liable to prosecution for failing to display the tax disc.

Also enclose for both vehicles:

- a test certificate – needed for cars and motorcycles over three years old, and heavy goods vehicles over one year old

I didn`t tell him to send it off, I told him to take it (if the van is parked off the road) or a photocopy in to his local DVLA office!!

They'll also probably charge you £25 to add his name as a nominee on the certificate in order to transfer it onto a vehicle registered in his name.
