Hi, I actually own an Audi A3 1.6 (99) but I know the VAG cars are all pretty similar underneath. Anyway my gears become a bit notchy once they car is hot and in traffic. I read that a lot of people who changed the oil and have had positive results. I did it on a previous car with similar issues and it noticeably improved it.

My question is has anyone got a pic of the drain and refill plug screws. I understand their 17mm? Could anyone confirm that. The car is on 150k and is all working well with this exception. I also read the best place to get the oil is from the dealer and it usually needs about 2.6litres.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

you'll need a special tool for the drain plug as they're supposedly 'sealed for life' gearboxes

Thanks, just found a guide, looks like a 14mm allen key.

Little tip.

Undo the FILL screw first. Otherwise you might drain the box, then find you can't refill it biggrin

You'll also need a way to get the oil into the box. Some people trickle it in with a tube. Some use the giant syringes. Depending on the bottle's spout you might be ok.
