Which girlie hybrid? Budget £350

OK, first off, this one is not for me. A girlie friend wants to get general purpose bike, that still has enough of a turn of speed that she can go out with my missus and her friends (who will be on proper road bikes) and still keep up if they are just out for a gentle one. She'd put a deposit down on a Halfords Apollo Etienne step-through frame thingy but fortunatly we've been able to save her from that fate.
She's never going to be a full on lycra roadie and spec is not important to her, and she wants something fairly comfy and not too focused. She had a quick go on my fully rigid Inbred s/s on skinny tyres and liked it, so I guess she wants something that will deliver a failry zippy, comfy ride but with gears. Shifters cannot be grip-shift, they must be standard MTB ones.
Being either a roadie or muddy person I don't really know much about hybrids...so any recommendations would be good. It looks like there might be the odd deal out there for a Spesh Cirrus, and the GT Traffic 2.0 on wiggle http://www.wiggle.co.uk/gt-traffic-20-womens-2011/... looks OK too.
Any other ideas around the £350 max mark?

Specialized Ariel, my wife bought one and loves it she uses it for a lot of silly little local journeys nipping to the shops etc.
She'd gone up to the specialised store in stafford for a look at mountain bikes and thanks to their help and advice come out having purchased a hybrid which is perfect for what she had ever intended to use her bike for.

All assuming she wants a step-through frame. My wife wanted that, even though there was enough clearance for her to stand across a normal frame. She ended up with a Marin at considerably more than that Ariel but I can't see any reason for the difference in price. That Specialized seems remarkable value for money.
