Like him, like him, like him.

He is excellent in opposition, an excellent orator, not sure how he would be in power though.

I have great admiration for his direct approach. Long may he continue to question the faceless beaurocrats.

On the current form of the Conservatives, he will enable Labour to win the next election.

I will be one of the millions of former Conservative party members and activists who will vote for him. I am no longer bothered about the fake Tory/Labour thing.

He is the conscience of the Conservative party, it's up to them to listen to him.

It's an amazing contrast.

We are so conditioned to politicians trotting out a standard line that we start to think things like William Hague talks some sense on Europe, or George Osbourne has some clue about how to fix the economy. True, but by such trifling degrees there is no worthwhile difference between the 3 main parties.

Farage just blows it all right out of the water. He asks what I would love to ask them, only with far more eloquence and style. In so many words he poses the question "What the fk do you think you're doing?!" And offers no comfortable place to hide behind streams of complicated terminology and so called expert opinion.

I watched this clip yesterday after seeing a link on another thread (no matter - it's worth linking again).

Fantastic speech. I think I may drop him a message of support on Monday.

He was doing well until he launched his torrent of enthusiasm at decrying a German led Europe, I half expected Van Rumpy-Tumpy to be sporting a Hitler 'tashe and ordering the luftwaffe to attack Greece. He orates well and argues compellingly but IMHO, he comes across as something of a fringe lunatic when he heads off on a tangent and starts with swivel-eyed conspiracy theories about a fourth Reich.

I agree with a lot of what he says and I'm glad his views have a voice that can be heard but I'm not sure he's going about it in the right way - Although what the right way would entail, I'm equally unsure of, as an aside.

So sad but sadly so very true. Cameron is nothing but a huge wet fish trying to pander to everyone, WTF does he stand for?

He talks with the clarity and confidence of someone who knows he will never hold power.

That sums up my misgivings with him - The eagle suffers little birds to sing and all that.

It's very easy to criticise, but what would he be able to do differently should he ever achieve power?

Like it or not, the UK needs to be able to trade freely with european countries. In order to do this, they need stability in the markets, in the currency (whether the Euro or individual currencies, if they become so devalued that they can't afford UK products, the UK is in trouble).

Whoever achieved power at the last election was getting the biggest poisoned chalice you could imagine. Labour's period in power led to a record level of public debt (it now stands over £34000 per person in employment) - it will cost every family more than £2000 per year just to service the interest payments alone.

In addition, a lot of the growth in consumption over the last 15 years has been funded with borrowed money, and this is unsustainable. Average unsecured debt (i.e. not including mortgages) is more than £15500 per household.

Farage would be no more able to steer the UK in a better direction than anyone else. The UK is not financially strong enough to stand alone, and alienating us from an important trading partner would certainly not help.

Ahhhhh, the BBC line.

So you think it's more important to surrender our sovereignty to the EU, so that we can trade with them, rather than go our own way.

In case you hadn't noticed, the European way has proven to have failed and is currently on a life support system. Let's go our own way, it can't be any worse.

For a start, we'll still trade with Europe. They want our goods, we want their goods. If they stop buying our stuff because they can't afford it, that's fine because our holidays to the Med will be affordable again. We should be looking far further than Europe for trade, we live in a global economy now. There is a far bigger market out there, and it is clamouring for UK goods and services (look at the growth of Jaguar in the past couple of years).

Let them fail - they deserve to.
