I need to get my Mazda Cx7's 4th year service done soon.

Called my local supplying dealer and got a price. £260 ish, not bad for a main dealer but I thought shopping around might be worth a go. I put a call in to a dealer out in the country where I bought my MX5. Its not a glass palace on a reatail park like the other place but an old school dealer deep in the country in a little market town. They are a multi brand dealer, Jeep, Kia etc so II figured with lower overheads and a lot of yhrough traffic it would be cheaper.

They quoted £50 more. Quite surprised at that.

I'm not ready to take it out of the maufacturer network just yet as I may trade it in next year but online quotes there only came in 20 or so quid cheaper.

Wildcat may I ask where you chose ? PM if you like. Also have a CX7 in the NE and have found a 80 quid difference between two main dealers.

There can be some huge differences in prices within the dealer network.

Also don't forget that main dealers can be cheaper than indies - I think a lot of people assume they will be cheaper and don't check. Last time my SL needed a major service I called several indies and then MB. To my surprise MB were cheapest - and I know which stamp I would prefer in my service book.

I had this with BMW. Tried one dealer, got a good price. Tried a second dealer, approx 20 miles away near my work, £80 more for the same thing! They agreed to match it, but I was a bit put out by the mark up.

I've also found a vast difference in servicing prices with Mazda dealers.

I suppose it indicates the profits involved. I'd have put it down to location, one dealer being in a premium site, the other not so up market, but I am clearly wrong on that score.
