280 exhaust

I will be wanting a pair of back boxes for the car before shes goes on the road,but may also look at replacing the whole system.Anyone got any pointers as where to look.Also is the 2+2 any different from standard due to the placing of the petrol tank and can a 280i capri be used or converted,Karl.

Hi Mate..I seem to recall that the rear silencer boxes were the same if not similar to the 2.8i capri..They are not cheap and thats why i went the cherry bomb route!!..Not to everyones taste but i think they sound cool.Ziga

Hello Ziga .I was looking at capri exhausts and wondered what similarities there where with the rest of the system The back boxes can easily be adapted if they are not exactly the same,Karl.

Hi Mate..All i know is when my N/S downpipe needed replacing i had to get one made..There was a fella in sheffield who had the sizes and shapes written down...I think RT put me onto him..I might be able to dig his number out if you need it..He made me one that fitted perfectly but it cost £100 in stainless..Ziga

Hi Karl.i bought a stainless steel system on my 350i.Had a friend fit it .Took longer than i thought had to alter it in places .My advice would be to maybe take it somewhere to be made if poss.Quite a complex system on your car i think .Good luck.Mike

Somewhere I have the original fabrication drawings for the elliptical centre silencer on the 2.8, must have a dig one of these days.

JP Exhausts Macclesfield - they have all the Fixtures to make you exhaust - thats where I had mine made - even tweaked it to fit properly - Good bunch of guys.
