Shed of the week? Alfa GTV V6.

So after selling my MX5 i was on the hunt for something quicker, and just as enjoyable to own.
Thursday night, i saw an ad on PH classifieds for a GTV V6. Short tax, short MOT.
Having had one before i knew what to check for, but it turned out i didn't need to! the car was in very good condition, and feels as tight as my old £4k car.
Its Rosso with Tan interior, recent cambelt, clutch and wishbones.
Exhaust is attached to the car, but i don't think to the manifolds, so this will be addressed.
Other than that here is what you get)

Problem being teledials reach £500 on their own. i will look into other wheels once the cars in A1 health 
ETA: i even still have the spacers i think (if you want them you can have them!)

I had one of these a few years back and it almost bankrupted me - every time it went into the garage the bill was for about a grand, regardless of what they did.
Exhaust, subframe bushes, camshaft variator, electrics and countless other things during my fairly short ownership. Yours does look good though and if you're handy with the spanners you'll be OK!
LOVE IT. I really miss my s2 GTV, if I could get away with the hopeless boot I'd have had another, is stead I did my own bit of shedding at the weekend and picked up a Seat Tolly V5. New thread going up in a bit.
Oh and another vote for tele's. I had the same wheels as yours, but no spoiler. Aero pack and tele's deffo the finishing touch when the rest is sorted. Nice shedding fella.

I didn't have my GTV for that long but it barely costed me a penny. Seemed very solid to be honest. The biggest problem with the seats isn't that they're incredibly uncomfortable, its just the lack of support. They almost robbed the joy of driving it quickly because the only way to stay in the seat properly as opposed to being in the passenger's lap was to hang onto the steering wheel round bends.
Well as theres a bit of a 'love in' at the moment, i thought i'd update you on the big V6.
First off the not so good news as i've realised i've not updated this for ages:
I took the car to my local Alfa specialist and told him i wanted the car to be A1 mechanically.
Stupid boy
Oil cooler shot, cambelt although changed had eaten a non changed variator, gearbox linkage dead, and various other items gave me a bill of £1200!!
Still, well worth it IMHO to have a mechanically sorted GTV V6.
After that shes been very good to me. New exhaust was needed as the OEM one was shot, so i bought a nice and subtle stainless one from ebay.
She did a few laps of Coombe
and felt, to be honest, all at sea.
Too much body roll, no LSD, and 90k suspension = fun, but not as quick as you'd like.
Is also a regular at the SW Queen's square meet.
I've had no breakdowns, no unexpected bills and no problems. Not bad for a 95k Alfa.
I think she'll be making way soon, i've been looking at VX220's and Elises but i'm very glad i saved her.
GTV's are very strange cars to rationalise. They are too heavy, thirsty and front wheel drive.
But they have that certain something, the idea that someone put some thought in to how it looked, not how much it cost, that makes them desirable.
They are not a drivers car, but they are very much an owners car. There are better FWD coupes, better cars for the modest outlay. But none in my opinion encapsulates the passion of cars that the GTV provides.
One for the heart then, not the head.

Yeah it's a good solid car now, lots or cheap ones about needing cambelts and clutches!
Re the vx, I'll drop you a mail. Depends on usual stuff like funds!
The main thing that has surprised me is the mpg. I'm getting over 350 to £70 which is mid-late 20's.
My old one could only just manage 250!
