claiming back PAYE tex

Hi all,
i have been in and out of work a few times this (2010-11) year and so my tax has been all over the place, I am having difficulty getting anyone at the tax office to investigate my overpayments, they want me to do all the legwork, is that the norm? who are the best people to speak to?

Do you mean "this year" (which is 2011/12) or "last year" (2010/11)?

To be honest i would do the legwork, then you know its right

2010-2011, done the legwork twice but they claim they never received it
