So it's service time for the little blue beast, looking on ECP website they have two different manufacturers of oil filters neither that I recognize. Sometimes more money doesn't mean better. Can anyone recommend either?

go to your local dealer, very reasonable for service items, You will also get approved parts.

Dealer might actually be cheaper and you will be getting the right parts.

Hengst are an OEM supplier, so there's a good chance paying more at the dealer will just get you a prettier box whilst the filter comes from the same place. Likewise, Mahle, Bosch, Mann and Knecht. Not sure about Guttmann.

Hengst have been around since 1958 and employ a team of R&D engineers. They're definitely no fly by night supplier of cheap ineffective aftermarket products.

If you can get the filter cheaper from the main dealer as suggested above, then great, but otherwise I'd go for the Hengst filter from ECP.

Hmm Guttmann seems to be an Indian based supplier.

Not sure I would risk it myself.

Xengst are an OEM supplier and also design and make a lot of oil filter housings. However, iirc, citroen ones are purflux.

It's not going to hurt to get either. Most of these filters are the same, but in a different box. And at the end of the day, it's a late aged citroen saxo.

Not sure if it is still working but they had a 25% off promotion. You will need to enter the code
winter25 at the checkout. Hopefully it is still running.

For a Saxo I would use the cheapest.

Excellent will go with Hengst, If their was a brand I knew and trusted for example Bosch, I wouldn't be asking the question.

Note to self never buy a car of you. If you use the cheapest. I have seen the problems inferior parts can cause.
