Hi, picking up the afore mentioned tomorrow, I've owned the previous two generation m3's in amongst a stream of Porsches and other stuff, anything to know about this gen? (too late now I guess!), what does the power button actually do? (salesman didn't seem to know!) Does it function as per e60 m5 and alter power or just like the e46 sport button?.

I'm a carbon lover, anyone bought any of the front spoilers/diffuser etc off Ebay? Any good?

Cheers
Dan

Congrats on the M3 purchase! Regarding the Sport button, this alters the throttle mapping to give you a more responsive throttle. It doesn't give you any more BHP unfortunately. Also, if you go into the iDrive settings for "M mode", you can access the Sport Plus setting for both Steering and Throttle - this can then be activated by the M button on the steering wheel.

Hope you enjoy it. biggrin

Cheers, I'll have a play, will it also alter the EDC? doesn't by any chance back off the tc a little?? So sport plus is only via the menu/m button?

You can set the TC to MDM (M Dynamic Mode) that lets it slide a bit more...

There are buttons on the side of the transmission tunnel for EDC, power and traction control. Or you can do it through the iDrive. Through the iDrive you can also programme the M button with a setting for each of those three and the steering weighting.

Best to RTFM when you pick it up. Or just have a play around - it is a very intuitive system.

Great choices. Be careful as I had my M button set with TC off. Prefer to leave it on and turn it off when need be on the transmission tunnel. A wee bit safer for a newbie lke me!

The sport plus throttle map setting means that 100% throttle is available which is not available on 'normal'. Whilst as previously stated it provides no more power, it does feel faster on the road. It does not change the EDC.

Carbon bits - have you considered the genuine BMW OEM kits as per the 'competition' option?

I don't think that's correct. 100% throttle is available in any mode, the difference being how far you have to press the pedal to achieve 100% throttle, i.e. it just alters the sensitivity. Sport and Sport Plus do 'feel' faster though.
