Hadnt really given it much thought before but apparently its getting quite common to take a car like a Prius and add in an LPG conversion.

Gives the equivalent of around 120MPG.

Dull cars, but thats mighty impressive.

Haven't seen an LPG prius but surprised by the number of small engined LPG cars in the classifieds. Must take ages to make the money back unless you do a huge mileage.

Many of the petrol 4x4s are on LPG now which is the only way you'll sell them now realistically which is understandable. I was surprised to see a 56 plate Focus 1.6 3 door on LPG for sale recently, didnt really get that.

I think for people who own older cars, like 90s petrol barges who dont want to let go of it then LPG is a great idea, it'll make its running costs viable to keep if you want to run it until it dies.

Depends, in Sheffield you get free on street parking with a LPG conversion. Saved me £600 in parking alone in the first year, add the fuel savings on top and it paid for itself within a year just driving to and from work

How do they work that out? Are they saying you can park there with LPG because your emissions are lower?

Surely every car is zero emissions when its parked.

Unlikely - more like 80mpg equivalent if you actually want to make any progress.

It's a Prius, so it's all relative.

Foot flat to the floor has the CVT revving the nuts off the engine whilst you 'gather momentum', rather than accelerate.

LPG conversions need not be all that expensive, get a second hand kit off ebay and fit it yourself.

I did drive a Prius as a courtesy car once. Perfectly ok thing if you want a 5 door automatic which isnt a diesel without sky high running costs. Not the sort of thing you buy for driving enjoyment though, its purely a numbers purchase.

Don't Hyundai/Kia do a hybrid that's on LPG as standard in Asia and the US?
