Hi folks

As discussed with a few people today, the first event I want to do for 2012 is an event specially aimed at doing something amusing while the winter is upon us and something - that I hope - will be of interest not only to drivers - but to the family as well.

The Heritage Motor Museum in Gaydon is about 2 hours away from Baldock and offers not just...
  • a fantastic collection of historic and modern cars to look at, but also
  • landrover experience plus
  • exhibits and more.
As January has pretty much nothing on - at all - what I would suggest is that we do a group booking at Gaydon to include not just the museum, but also the landrover experience as well.

The landrover experience is about driving a landrover over a rough outdoor course until the eyes of a instructor for anything from 20mins-3 hrs depending on what option you book.

If you do the 20mins taster, then the price £6 + the cost of the museum which is £8 (group fees).

If you want to do the hour event or other options, then the full details are here
http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/downloads/H...

So, this was my thoughts...
  • As a group (assuming we can get more than 12 people going), we book a group visit to the museum and include the 20min taster tour for those that want it in the booking.
  • For those who want something more adventurous, then they can review the options above and book something separately for the day. The 1hr heritage ride or off road taster would be my suggestion biggrin
  • We can also include a free tour or discounted rides if enough people are interested.
If this is something you would be up for over January, then please put your name below and as long as we have more than 12 people (confirmed as going), then I can get a date and a booking made.

What next then?
  • Put your name below and what weekend dates you think you can do
  • State if you are interested in the landrover experience and which one. I _might_ be able to get extra discounts if we have enough people interested in the hour+ options
  • How many would be coming with you - family etc
I would need to know within the next few weeks if enough people are interested for me to arrange this event, so please respond by 16th Dec if you want to go.

This event is open to Herts & Beds and Middlesex members.

Thanks!

Alex

Hi Alex
I'd be interested in attending. I would be interested in doing the Design and Engineering tour but I fear I might find myself in a minority of 1 tongue out

Hi Alex

I am interested but couldn't see a date. I'm working out of the country a fair bit so the date is crucial to me.

Cheers Chas

Hi Chas

I haven't booked a date yet for this, although it will probably be early-mid Jan. If you let me know the dates you can't do, then I will try and find the best date for everyone.

I wanted to check I could get enough people interested in the event before I booked something.

I'll post some dates either next week or just after.

Thanks!

Hoover.

Lol. Sounds like you had a fun time!

Added both of you to the list.

If you let me know if you are on for the landrover experience and which one, I'll see if I can get us a cheaper deal for it biggrin

Hi folks

So far, the following people have put their names down for this event...
  • Myself (obviously + off road)
  • Mark Curtis+1 (confirmed)
  • Steve Moore (confirmed)
  • NickE (confirmed + off road)
  • StephenR (confirmed + off road)
  • JoeW (confirmed)
  • JohnJ (confirmed + off road)
  • Ceri
  • BrianH (confirmed)
  • RichardL (confirmed + off road)
  • Hoover
  • Chas (confirmed)
  • Gorden+Chrissy (confirmed)
Which means I have the necessary 12 people for the booking to go ahead and qualify for the reduced rate.

So, what I need now is for people to please...
  • Confirm that they still want to do the event. If I book then confirming means you will pay me back the £6 even if you do not end up going.
  • Indicate which of the following dates is best, please provide a 1st and 2nd choice - 21st Jan or 14th Jan or 7th Jan
  • Indicate if you want to do the Landrover experience and which one. If you are not certain, you can book it on the day, but it will cost more for you. Not much, but slightly more.
If necessary, we can not go as a group and everyone just turn up on the day, but the cost of that is almost double which is why I wanted to do a group booking if possible.

Thanks!

Hi folks

I'm booking this event tomorrow, so once booked and you are on the list below, you will owe me £6 whether or not you come on the day. There are 1-2 people not mentioned specifically on the list as I haven't updated it fully, but same will apply to them as well.

The group rate is significantly cheaper than the individual rate, so I'm booking and paying for this event up front to save for everyone.

If you need to pull out, please let me know before tomorrow!

The date will be the 21st of Jan. I will book 3 1h landrover experiences and if people want to book another on the day, they can, the price is only slightly more than booking in advance.

Thanks.

Hi folks

I think I have already contacted most people that wanted to do the Landrover experience for this event - either the taster or the more intense version.

If I have not however and you want to, could you please drop me an email asap so I can pass on the details to you of how to book.

At the moment we have about 5-7 people doing either the hour or 3 hour course run, so unless I hear otherwise, I'm assuming everyone else will either book a 20min taster on the day - at the slightly increased cost - or they are going for the events at the museum only.

Btw - I have done the route plan and will send it out a week or so before the event. We will be aiming to arrive at the HMC between 1130-1200.

Thanks!
