Mercedes CL63 AMG
Discussion
Went to Webbs Of Wychbold today and saw some very nice cars parked up. On arrival I parked next to a Nissan GTR and on the way in I spotted the new BMW 116d, the new MG6 and a fairly odd Daihatsu Materia. But the real surprise was on the way out. A Mercedes CL63 AMG 6.3 was parked against the hedge next to a Mercedes SLK55 AMG. Also saw an Audi RS6.
Does anyone know any facts and figures for the CL63 AMG 6.3? I have looked on the internet but could only find information on the ones with smaller engines. I am interested to know Top Speed, Acceleration (0-60), Price When New and How Many Left. Help would be appreciated.

A bit of googling has unearthed some pretty interesting facts:
when released it was held highly amongst journalists for its ingeniuous 'reserve thrust' system whereby in the same manor as accelerating, decelerating could be achieved by pressing a pedal on the floor.
Almost all journalists asked commented that it had a padded area for the driver to sit
Steering was revolutionary: a disk infront of the driver is used to point the front end of the car where you'd like it to go.
It has a device in the drivetrain which can multiply the torque produced by the engine by a descrete value to help acceleration. Unfortunately this means you reach the red line of the engine sooner, so there are many of these torque multipliers to allow a suitable combination of torque and speed at all times.

I'm expecting the OP's next post to be after 3.30pm, unless he's got a pass to go home for lunch...

Who's MCLARENKID? Not sure what your talking about. Am I missing something? Anyway, I found this.....
"63" M137 6.3L V12
The "63" badging was used on the short-lived 2001 S63 AMG and 2001 CL63 AMG. These were produced in limited quantities for one month and only offered through AMG to select customers in Europe and Asia, purportedly state leaders. The CL63 AMG was the rarest W215 CL of all, and just 26 examples were built in November 2001 (51 plate), with some UK being registered in March 2002. These had a base price of £110,000 (~US$200,000).[40][41][42]
These are powered by a naturally aspirated 6.3L V12 producing 444 PS (438 hp/327 kW). This engine is based on the M137 5.8L V12 used in the S600 and CL600, but the AMG variants have a larger displacement, a new management system, a new crank case and cooling system, weight-optimized pistons, and a new camshaft with greater valve lift and modified valves. 390 lb·ft (530 N·m) of torque are available between 2500-5800rpm with a peak of 457 at 4400 rpm while horsepower grows by almost 80 over the 5.8L V12. It is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. The 2001 S63 AMG V12 had 100 hp more than the 2001 S55 AMG, and was a few tenths faster

The article on Wiki says 'The CL63 AMG was the rarest W215 CL of all, and just 26 examples were built in November 2001'. The car I saw looked a lot newer than 2001 so I assume it's not this one. I still can't find anything to do with a Mercedes CL63 AMG 6.3. I guess that the 6.3 models were a limited production run.
FERRARI MAN 2222, go read the legendary threads wiki, then go read a few of the longer readers car threads and then spend some time mooching in General Gassing and lurking in The Lounge until you get the gist of this place. The wolves have been quite nice to you so far but copying and pasting information about a car will bring them down on you. It is a friendly place, but the best way to learn the ropes is to observe for a while.
As for the CL63, I live in surrey, i see them everyday.
ETA, Pistonheads, useless car pedantry matters, the new 63 is a V8, the old 63 is a V12.

Here's a novel idea.
Go look at the manufacturers web site.
I know it's a bit left field, but it might just work
Don't be so daft! Why do that when others will do it for you?Go look at the manufacturers web site.

OP. If you're so interested in the one you saw, why not speak to the seller? That's what I do when I want to know about something I want to buy.
