Charging woes

Hi there

Dont know if anyone can help, but would appreciate some good advice. We are having problems with our mercedes b class. We had a new battery and alternator just over a year ago, and the alternator packed up a couple of weeks ago (so just out of warranty on the alternator). Had a new alternator fitted, and two weeks later, we have the alternator/battery fault appearing on the dashboard. Any ideas as to what could be the cause? It's a 2005 model. Appreciate any help you can give.

What make was the replacement alternator ?

Whilst Ive never come across it myself, Ive heard some cars can be very very fussy, and often you need either your own unit repaired, or to buy an OEM unit. Not a "cheap" generic replacement, even if they arent actually cheap.

No idea if your car falls into that category though

I think the b class has a similar batery/fuse box in the drivers footwell area as the A class, if it does check for burnt wire etc, Was very common on the A class
