I'm intrigued as to what regular players of this game think.

I used to enjoy MW, then MW2 and BOPS (which some people hate), but also enjoyed BFBC2 and currently love BF3. However, MW3 never appealed to me. My friend bought it on release day and I popped over for a look. It didn't look like that much of an improvement over 2 to be honest.

Now, as a BF3 lover I don't think I can comment on the merits of MW3 as I like slow gameplay with vehicles etc, and the game itself doesn't really interested me at all (from what i've seen).

So, what do the people who play the game regularly think? Is it a substantial improvement on MW2, or is it just like an update? Also, have the problems that affected Infinity Ward in the past re staff leaveing affected things (i.e. the fallout with activision)?

It hasn't lived up to it for me, I do enjoy it, but fear that they're close to jumping the shark unless they really mix things up next year.

Given the choice at the moment, I usually plump for more time in Skyrim, rather than playing multiplayer MW3. And I've paid for the premium elite sub, so I do feel like I should be getting my monies-worth.

As I've just posted in the MW3 thread......

Got to say I'm tempted to get rid of it too and get Skyrim, really disappointed with the game, for me the challenge in BOps was to get all the perks up to pro level, the perks on this are pretty crap, this coupled with very boring 'spray and pray' or 'corner camp' maps has left me a little bored. I might delete my 15th prestige BOps profile and start that from stratch again.

I must admit that since Skyrim came out, BF3 and Forza 4 have been seriously neglected. smile

Plays so so good. Better graphics than its brother that is COD though. The texture details on COD are.. well what texture detail? There isn't any.

Yes and no. Went to game after work to buy the game on launch day, told the hardened edition was sold out and that I should register online.

Well yes the game itself is fantastic and not too dissimilar from every Modern Warfare game made. The graphics are excellent but the only problem appears to be campers sitting off in a crevice waiting for someone to walk past so they can rack up easy kills. When you face entire teams like this it produces a kind of stalemate and the games are st.

And no. The elite service is still down, if and when I finally get to use my Double XP it'll be part of the way through a prestige and not at the start when most XP is awarded. They really should have anticipated the Elite service better and the response seems pretty amateurish, and if I could ask for a refund of the £35 I would but fear it's more st that I don't want to have to deal with.

On the whole yes, but very disappointed with "the Elite? service"

Go look at Uncharted 3, Gears 3 and God of War 3 and then look at Modern Warfare 3.
Excellent really? st is the word you're trying to spell.

No. But the hype is typical of the franchise. Or anything.

Everyone has just been suckered in again so we'll just end up with more bks next year.
Mw3 has bad spawns, random hit detection and awful maps. I prefer BO which I didnt think was possible. It's a reskin of MW2 with worse maps (to date), worse perks.

COD 4 was a master stroke if you ask me. Everything else since has just been a reincarnation and now our idea of fun is getting a high killstreak to shoot at red squares. Why do we always think COD 4 was the best and every year we get something not as good but we're content?

Although I did enjoy MW2. A lot. Which did have beast hit detection and some good maps.

This will be my last COD. Way prefer BF3 and I was a COD junky.

I was COD addict, but MW3 just isn't fun, for me. It feels flawed.

Weird spawns, run and gun from the hip, corner camping, hit detection is 'odd', feels like a step backwards.

I'm only on it because my brother and friends play it and feel a bit let down.

I'm really feeling BF3, it's just more fun.

Not at first BUT is slowly getting there. I honestly don't know how people can say it's too similar to MW2 or there's too many campers in the game because to me it "feels" allot different to MW2, it feels allot more like Black Ops than any thing else. Campers, those little cretins are in every CoD game (Black Ops more so imo) & it's certainly not encouraged in this version. Personally I don't see anything wrong with the maps, yes it needs one or 2 bigger/open maps but I'm sure they'll come out in due time. They've nerfed Noobs, the endless amount of nades & gaymores, yes the spawns are a little all over the place at the mo but that keeps the game interesting & does no favours to campers. The Elite website seems to be up and running fine now, minimal invite problems, connecting to lobby's is fine now even with large party's etc etc etc.

Yes the game isn't perfect BUT no CoD is, even the great CoD 4 has campers & a seemingly never ending amount of nades & air support that's almost impossible to take down (great game though!). IW have obviously tried their best to balance this game & have done a good job too. Yes graphically it's almost the same as MW2 but they are still much better than any previous CoD's & errr what fps does BF3 run at?

In terms of graphics they're about right for what you need them for. I'm 33 and I've played pretty much a broad selection of games across most if not all platforms and st graphics would come from the days of my 386 or ZX48K on modern day consoles, with modern day consoles the they're all pretty good really. And that's my opinion, and I'm entitled.

I love MW2, and have an embarrassing amount of time logged on the online multi-player.

Was really excited about BlackOps, but was aghast at how unplayable it was due to the horrendous lag compensation then used.

I at least thought that was a Treyarch problem, and that the InfinityWard spin-off wouldn't make the same mistake on MW3 - unfortunately they have, and as much as it pains me, MW3 has such bad host/lag compensation that 80% of my games are unplayable - reviewing the killcam puts me up to 1s behind the opposition on most games. Absurd.

Just a no.
In no ones opinion can MW3 have good graphics. BLACK on the PS2 rivals this.

It was great getting it, not so much fun having it....like the clap. Every game is the same, get killed by a camper, go back and kill camper, get killed by another camp, get kicked out, get server down messge and then wonder why I spent so much on it. The maps are st, they just help campers. As chandler would say “could there be anymore corners”

I am really enjoying the game at the moment. ITs very addictive, have amazing games and then really bad games but thats what keeps you intrested. You cant expect just to pick it up and be at the top of the board every game. I also really like all the leveling up. I didn't bother using alot of stuff in MW2 because the rewards was not that good (extended mags is a good example), however now its amazing! You play long and hard enough with any good and you can have whatever you want on it. Also despite there now being 80 levels it dosen't take that long to prestige. Even my K/D isn't that bad (about 1.45/1). Ait support isn't overpowered in this game and most is pretty easy to shoot down. The game will only get better as more maps are released and the patching continues.

Gripes, well it seems VERY connection dependent to how you do in a game. This was the same with MW2 but it feels even more so this time. Also HATE Akimo machine pistols. How they can do more damage than a 7.62mm assult rifle is beyond me! Current maps 'feel' small. This kight be as IW have tried to reduce the choke points and make the game more flowing (which it is). Oh and the ramdon spawning, but thats the same with all CODs when released (Black Ops was the same).

I think to pass jugment on the game after only a couple of weeks is a bit harsh. These things develop over time. smile

Chris.

I gave up with it after a week, just didnt keep me entertained. I found myself just getting fustrated with the maps, silly spawn points, kids abusing everyone in the lobby.

BF3 seem's to be the better all round game for me. Thats when im not being obsessed by Skyrim.

Swopped MW3 for MW2 and Assasins Creed 2. I feel im better off strangely enough

Can't say I'm enjoying the multiplayer that greatly, tbh. Kill Confirmed mode makes sense, but I'm just not blown away by the maps. They all feel very similar to me.

I find myself just wanting to go back to BlackOps and playing more rounds on the likes of Firing Range/Jungle/Summit etc. i'm sure these were bettered in previous CoD games but I started really getting into the multiplayer on BlackOps.
