New toy time, but a Murci, GTR, DBS, 612?
Discussion
Hi all, just banding round ideas ... As I have the itch to change and thought I'd ask for other peoples thoughts.
Thought general gassing best place to start, to get unbiased opinions.
I have a Range Rover Sport which is great for every day use, but thinking about changing my Vanquish, but what to???
There are 3 of us (daughter nearly 5), so a 2+2 is really what I'm looking for such as a DBS (if they are much better than the Vanquish), or a Nissan GTR, a Ferrari 612, 997.2 Turbo or a Jag XKR, Bentley GT Supersports, or something similar.
I REALLY WANT to try a Murcielago, but obviously it only has 2 seats otherwise that's what I'd go for (but haven't completely ruled it out as its a dream car).
I've been lucky enough to own a few TVRs, a 911tt, a 360 coupe, now on the Vanquish, but what next??!!?
Open forum, any input appreciated from owners and non-owners.
Budget to a max of £90k, and would only buy at least 2yrs old to avoid initial hit, appreciate I need to drive them, but want to narrow the list down to 3-4 possibles.
Thanks

612's are lovely cas my dads best mate has a silver one, but jesus wept the depreciation on 4 seater Fezzas is scary. I don't really find it very comfortable either.
Bentley SS's are lovely looking cars, standard CGT's go rather well so they must be a hoot.
A DBS would be my choice on looks alone .... don't know what they are like to drive though.
Or save up another 10-15K and buy a DB9 coupe for 40K and a Gallardo for around 70K ..... best of both worlds.

Similar thought process to myself! Two points I just can not get over:
1. The back view of a Murci is one of Gods graetest sights and makes me wibble even without hearing anything eminating from the compulsary Tubi. Hence large expense but may always regret not having one while they are still of servicable age.
2. GTR's defy physics and wallets. It will probably get you anywhere faster than anything else but with zero Romance.
Current plan is, GTR and Supercar club membership?

The suggested supercar club membership should sate your thirst for a Murci I would have thought, and the cost probably equates to a years running costs on one (especially at £90K) so not bad I reckon.
Coming from a Vanquish as much as the GTR is probably quicker than anything on the road I think you are likely to be rather quickly put off by the plasticky interior etc. and the lack of soul. And lets be honest here, how often can you unleash even 50% of it's potential on the road, especially with 2 kids in the back.
I'd change the RRS for a FFRR, buy a Maserati Gran Turismo S for fun (not as quick as the GTR but acheingly beautiful and what a glorious noise) and enjoy your P1/Ecurie25 membership.

Also forgot your option of a 997 Turbo.
If you actually want to be amazed everytime you drive one get a Turbo S with the PDK gearbox and get it remapped ..... absolutely devastating. I've been 203mph (207mph on the clock) in one and it felt almost effortless.
Will leave 99% of all other road car for dead in all conditions, it all feels really well put together and most of all.... rather comfortable and purposeful place to be.
It wont feel as special as the Lambo or Aston to drive but will never the less be fault-less to drive, perfectly composed in any situation.

The OP has already has a 911TT and is perhaps looking for something a bit different? If you actually want to be amazed everytime you drive one get a Turbo S with the PDK gearbox and get it remapped ..... absolutely devastating. Dont' disagree with anything you have said about the car though. Simply awesome.
A lot of nice cars to choose from. Where to start!
The Ferrari - As posted above, the depreciation - It's insance, any 4 seat Ferrari will lose a lot of money in not a lot of time. In its favour in the 2nd hand market you can get a good spec low mileage car fairly cheap (£60,000) compared to the new price (nearer to the £200,000 mark wasnt it??)
Aston DBS - Beatiful car, probably a big leap from what you have. Didnt the vanquish have some sort of gearbox issue? In terms of styling it wins hands down. Prices too have dropped to a reasonable level (£90,000) in comparison to the new prices what ever it was.
Porsche 997.2 Turbo - Ive been in many turbo's including the 997.1 and that was phenominal - the speed was epic, maybe wait a while for prices to drop a bit more for a better deal. I know nearly new 911's shed a lot of vlaue ovr the course of a year.
For me it comes down to the Bentley and the Merci - If 4 seats is a must, go for the bentley - the performance will be amazing, and its British. However if the option for the Merci is still open go for it. Its a proper hypercar and you only live once!

Just to give you an idear of the Turbo S thing... (both me recording)
This one is a crap view video but at the end you can the see the speedo past vertical (vertical is 200mph).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2J9gPJu16g
This is what a DMS mapped PDK Turbo S (same car as above) does to a 300K 599GTO ...

Not that this should change your mind but, just showing the capabilities of the Porker.

If I was to opt for a 612, I would cap spend towards £75/80k to avoid a huge hit, but always going to lose quite a bit on a 4 sweater fezza.
Bentley probably most suitable of all and has space for golf clubs, but are they wild enough? ... I know they're not really meant to be, but am only 34, so can easily go for one in a year or two, but fancy something a bit more outlandish.
DBS nice and do look more modern so need to drive one, but the Vanquish next to a DB9 looks much meaner and harder.
Never been a big fan of the Gallardo, doors don't open right and it's never had same appeal as a full fat Lambo. Drove both back to back on a track and Gallardo felt 'quite good' .. Murci was the absolute must nuts.

Hadn't even considered super car club ... Will be googling later after replies! Thanks.1. Is a 997.1 or .2 that much of an improvement .. But look seriously quick on stats.
Mine felt ridiculously quick across all roads, even in the wet, but never set the soul on fire.
Would return happily, but think I'd regret not trying others first.
But DMS upgrade and movies posted (thanks for taking the time) have made me think its a real contender.

I have been fortunate enough to passenger and drive so many cars in my 18 year life on this earth, the Turbo S is THE most amazing car I've ever experienced..... when using launch control I could actually feel my internal organs being thrown backwards (most peculiar feeling)
It won't have the fizz or sense of ocassion that the Lambo or Aston etc will offer but it will do everything excellently.
Wildcard = Maserati MC Stradale
No 4 seats but o my look at it !
