What the hell is wrong with people at the moment? Have they all developed an aversion to using the bloody dipped beam option until they are actually blinding you?

I live in Cumbria and this means lots of long and unit A Roads, combined with very little light pollution in the sky equals driving at night is a very dark affair indeed.

I try to be as courteous as possible with my lights and dip them as soon as I see a glimmer of light from oncoming traffic wether it be a beam from behind the brow of a hill, or light shining on a hedge from a car around the next corner.

I never leave it until I see the oncoming car, because by then you are actually 'full beaming' them.

Every other fker seems to think it ok to only dip their lights once the are actually headed straight towards you at about 50 metres and the gap is closing rapidly... And even then they need prompting by a quick flash.

Sometimes they actually don't bother at all and perform their entire journey using full beam, presumably thinking "well I can see ok so fk everyone else".

When you are travelling at 60mph on an unit country road with very frequent corners, that few seconds of complete blindness as some idiot drives towards you on full beam can be quite critical.

I can only assume they are pig ignorant or just completely retarded.

As you can probably tell... It is a current bad driving trend that is getting right on my tits!

I feel slightly better now.

As you were.

yes we get it, people drive around inconsiderately.

But we don't need a thread every 30s banging on about people's use of headlights.

Or DRLs.

Or Foglights.

Or brakelights whilst waiting at a junction.

Or winter tyres.

Or rwd vs fwd vs awd.

Newish cars with so called intelligent lighting systems have an automatic dip which works off a sensor. The problem with mine is that it waits for opposing car headlights to come into view before they operate the dip.

I have stopped using mine for this reason.

Ignorant and retarded perhaps.

My old Porsche had shockingly poor headlamps, so I fitted a discrete pair of auxiliary driving lamps and an eBay H1 HID special to the standard aux lamps.

After that I found that the briefest of flashes always got people do dip their lights...
