History first. I've been intending to buy a TVR for a few months, since making some money on a house and then buying a cheaper one. A mate of mine has been winding me up over this period, saying he'd wait til I'd bought a car, then go out and buy something better and faster (he has more capital than i do).
Well, I agreed to buy my first TVR early yesterday afternoon and will pick up next week if all goes well.
It's a late 95 Chimaera 5.0
This morning this mate of mine rings up to say he's just bought a 993 Turbo for £30k!!
This guy has actually bought this car just to say that it's a better, faster than the TVR! And he's spent more than twice what I have to do so! and I haven't stopped laughing all morning (including at him down the phone)
P.S. What the comparative performance figures for the 2 cars? I'd laugh so much more if he was wrong, good friend or not.

Join the TVRCC and get along to the meets etc and you will realise just how good a TVR is.
It will earn you a lot of friends quicker
BTW: My Griff 500 hand book says
0-60: 4.1 secs
0-100: 10.5 secs
1/4 mile: 12.2 secs
Also, I bet I can already guess which car will sound the best
and Id rather have it than a squashed beatle!

I've also heard of a pub that suggests an Audi hearse can do 4.X and that an old fashioned yellow thing with a Rover 4 pot is even quicker!
I think they must drink a lot there though. Everyone knows that thats not possible.

You could always mention that TVR should be thankful to Porsche as in the 80s when all the Loadsamoney London traders started buying them the sloanes thought that Porsche had become vulgar and started buying TVR, hence giving them sales and money to invest so you could one day buy a fine 5 Litre Chim.

If we are talking official claimed stats - then he has just paid between £10 and £15k more than you to get 0.2 secs 0-60 and an extra 4mph top end.
Trust me, on a normal road, you'll never notice the difference.

Mmm, have to agree - failed to see a 993 Turbo for that amount. Eithers a LHD dog, or it aint a 993 and / or Turbo - or of course he paid a lot more than £30k for it..... Cracking car, but it will BREAK you if you get the wrong one....
Top purchase on the TVR though.
