Service History Dilema
Discussion
Hi All,
Have a bit of an issue.
I purchased a Range Rover Sport from a dealer back in June. I purchased the car with a full service history.
It has taken the dealer, after months of messing around, up until now to get the service history to me! The service history is a replacement booklet with only one entry filled in at 23k miles. The car had done 69k when purchased.
What options do you think I have here?
Any dealers out there, what would the price difference you would quote someone who would be selling a Range Rover Sport SC 05. 74k miles. Excellent Condition. Average price with or without service history?
Quite narced off about this whole situation.

a lot less, 10-15%, to be honest if it wasnt serviced in line with manufacturers maintenance schedule i'd had left it well alone.
I would tell this to the dealer principal and detail that this car was not as advertised and the lack of service history is going to severely affect its re-sale value and attractiveness.
I suspect that your book will become stamped up pronto.

You have 2 choices
1 - attempt to reconstruct the history by contacting dealers and getting the book stamped-up
2 - confront the dealer who sold it to you with proof that they offered it with 'full service history' and suggest they either provide that history or consider a deal to either buy back the car or recompense you for the significantly reduced value of the car.
The lesson here is 'do not accept a car without all the promised stuff DONE - do not expect a dealer to do stuff once you've signed/paid/left the premises"

Do you mean the car was advertised with a full history and that upon buying they magically couldn't find it, fibbing you off with excuses?
And eventually, produce a service history stamped to only 23k?

) but in the future, thoroughly check EVERY bit of the history before handing over any folding. bluebear said:
This is absolutely outrageous that a manufacturer like Land Rover would sit back and let something like this happen, have you contacted them direct ! Get your solicitor involved and talk to the garage direct too.
It hasn't been established which 'dealer' it was bought from. I doubt it was a LR main agent - if so then the OP can surely feel a little more re-assured regarding compensation/resolution of the situation.Did they advertise the car as having FSH?
As far as I would be concerned if I was buying, it has barely got a service history, let alone a full one. Most other used car buyers would think the same.
With that in mind, the car is probably worth quite a bit less than you paid for it.
Also, without the history, it could be clocked or worse. Did the HPI reveal anything?
If they did advertise it with FSH, then I would see what avenues I could pursue to reject the car (or at least get some money back reflecting the true value of the car).

If it was Land Rover then contact the Customer Relations team, they can be very helpfull in these situations and try and dig out old info on the vehicle.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
