Repairing a damaged photo

I have an old A1 size print that has unfortunately suffered a glass related accident. It's not torn to shreds, but there are lots of scratches and scuff marks. I wondered if there's a way to restore it since it's a rare image, so is going to be difficult, if not impossible, to replace exactly.

If you dont have the negative get it scanned in by someone who knows what they are doing.

Then theres a bunch of photoshopery you can do to make it look like new (depending on damage).

Either people on here or pro services (or both!).

No negative (the negative would be a glass plate), so I would need someone with an A1 scanner in the south east.

I can probably do the photoshoppery (In days gone by I was quite proficient) and I have a local printer who can commit the repairs to paper.

If you can't find a scanner to suit, a decent overhead copy shot taken through a high end digital camera will get you out of a spot. If you can generate a decent file size; job done.

We got rid of our scanners a while back and if we have to copy images such as this, this is the solution we use.

If you set up a lightbox, you can copy transparencies / negatives too.
